I think the UX for this could be handled very well as each user having their own myplex account, and the system recognizing “sub accounts” (so they can use the purchased plex pass).



The client UI would simply let you log in to your myplex account from the front page, and the master account would be the one delegating permissions.

Of course, pms should cache credentials and permissions for offline mode

My only concern is that we implement multiple users, watched/unwatched and potential parental controls so that one does not impact the use of the other.



I think multiple users is the best way to address parental controls, but I would not want the use of multiple users to force separate watched/unwatched status values. In other words, it would be nice to have a switch at the server to use separate user-based watched/unwatched.

Multiple users should also be supplemented with library control per user. That way my girlfriend don’t have to see the shows she’s not interested in and vica versa. That would also work as parental control.

There is another function that I would like to see connected to multiple user accounts, and that’s bandwidth limitation/settings per user over WAN. There are about 25 users that use my media collection on a daily basis through SubSonic. After I’ve seen the new PlexWebAccess I cant wait to make the transition to PWA, when that feature becomes free to use. There is ofcourse bandwidth selection that each user can control for themselves, but that’s something that an admin should be able to control and lock those settings from other users.



EDIT: I see this function is exactly what’s being asked for in the “[Popular] Show who is streaming what and when” thread. Great!
