Voting for this as well.
+1 Please make this happen
This feature really should be a āquick winā : itās really usefull (i have several movies with various āflavorsā, like āextendedā, ādirectorās cutā, and so on), and on the other hand itās probably something verrrryyyy easy to implement in the plex server code (either as a drop down list (like for the quality selection), either as an automatic āextraā entry).
So +1
Agree that this has got to be easy and a very quick win. Really wish Plex would just implement some of these quick wins rather than wasting their time on features no one needs.
PLEASE!!! This is where EMBY is way betterā¦

+1 here. Please!
correct me if i am wrong but could you not use collections this way. have all versions under the same collection then have the library hide items in collections
Some users do this as a workaround but it falls short of the solution requested here. Itāll e.g. get quite untidy if the multi-version movie weāre talking about is also part of a collection.
That being said⦠Iām actually using this workaround myself where I put the alternate editions/versions into the same collection but a separate āmovie editionsā library (I prefer them showing as ārelated itemsā instead of ācollection-siblingsā ā this also helps me prevent the need to manually split items). Still keeping my fingers crossed for an actual multi-version/-cut solution ![]()
Wow⦠August 2012 was the original request and it still gets a lot of support from the community.
Isnāt it time to get it done right - introducing an āeditionsā feature for movies and episodes?
Canāt be that hard⦠if you want design ideas, just ask for them.
Still looking for a solution here. For it to be a real fix, it should work without having to do any manual work fixing things in the library.
I would love to see this feature added very soon! I have a ton of movies with multiple versions (Blade Runner has 5 versions, Star Wars A New Hope has 5 versions, and many more with 2 or 3 versions).
The main issue I would like resolved first would be the progress bar being separated for each version. Right now, if I watch the regular cut of The Abyss for example, the progress par shows on the extended cut of it, too. But I wasnāt watching the extended cut!
I like the idea of having one entry for each movie, then a sub-window asking which version you would like to view, but we should be able to name each version ourselves in case the automated naming is incorrect.
I currently have different thumbnail posters for each version of every movie that has multiple versions, and have had to create some of those images myself. I would be happy to have 1 poster for the main entry only, then just choose the version I want to watch from a drop-down menu (or whatever) and not have to worry about multiple posters. That would save some disc space, too.
Emby handles this way better and Plex should have something similar as well.
Ability to have merged 1080p/2160p libraries
Only shows a single image to resume rather than both sources of resolution.
Can limit users access under a merged library to only specific paths
It will auto-choose the best resolution for the display, ie 1080p if the tv only supports 1080p.
Transcodes are then triggered from that copy.
I guess we can stop requesting things ⦠Plex-Devās gives a f**k ⦠They are wasting all itās resources for useless features and new UIās nobody wants
I think chances are better, that emby fixes some major bugs and add cleaner UI, before Plex starts listening to their customers.
Please keep this attitude in the UI posts⦠here we stick to a desperately (/naive) positive way of thinking. Keep in mind⦠itās not even been 1.5 years since we got Collections.
If not having the multiple-cuts feature hurts badly⦠motivate more people to vote or add to the already described (positive) use cases for this feature within this thread to keep it alive and goingā¦
wrong way ⦠if Plex Devās wants a less toxic forum/blog, they should make a less toxic Application.
itās one of the most voted features. Besides itās an absolute must have feature. Itās not a ānice to haveā. This āfeatureā is not really a feature, itās a MAJOR PROBLEM SOLVER ⦠itās not like this childish playing of the Devās with thausend UIās. Itās A BUG ! You Play a move on a 2D TV , Plex takes the 3D Version and there is NO CHANCE TO CHANGE IT??? 2019⦠6 Years later⦠omfg
ask more people to vote on it.
Sure, so what is the threshold before plex devs will do it for sure and not just look into it?
almost 300 votes now yet no movement on itā¦
i come from another place who uses a vote system and all it does is stagnate until the devs decided to come in and say for a fact if something Will/can or will not be done.
Yet the only official way of getting support is user to user and there is no way for user to admin support unless it goes thur some Channel where logs are requested.
I think this can be easily implanted. The server should check the length of the movie and check on IMDB to check which version it is and add a beautiful overlay text label on the cover art to see which version it is. Or maybe simple add the version between at the end of the movie name. Right now this is what I do by manually changing the movie title.
+1 seems like a no brainer to add this ability
+1 ( oh how I dislike having to give āme tooā on threads that are long in both time & posts). The way data is managed and displayed - so hard for a curator to give actuate details of library or showcase content. Personally, I believe Collections & Playlists are like a band-aid for a broken bone - not good/easy tools for curators and leave too much out for end users/viewers.

I bet the developers just canāt figure out a way to do it
