So pathetic that devs have not added this yet… I requested this as well, around 2015. Come on guys, it’s long overdue and time to play catch-up with the rest of the industry!

Please consider our needs and respond positively.
How come variable speed is not a standard feature of Plex player? It’s not unduly complex, and both slow and fast motion are useful and widely demanded features. This has been a suggestion for over 8 years!
I think most people would prefer to have a feature-rich player than lots of useless options to subscribe to obscure video sources, which seems to be Plex’s chosen direction!

I am a Lifetime Plex Pass since forever. I also want the ability to change playback speed on my TV and phone. On my PC I have an extension that does the job.

This would be relevant for the the suggest audiobook feature too - and even if that was not introduced, the ability to do this from the Music type as a stand-in would be invaluable for those who listen to audiobooks from Plex. Although right now, I end up having to use a different app and take a copy onto my phone to do this because this is just such a basic feature Plex and PlexAmp are missing.

I have been hearing about Plex for years. I finally set it up after having all the spare parts around… it is great but I am honestly in disbelief that it is this popular and doesn’t have such a basic option to speed and slow playback in the client app or an official option in the web player.
I watch everything speed up some degree and I can’t use an HTML player control as I can’t transcribe with a Pi server this missing feature will stop me from subscribing.

Dear plex, we are still alive after 8 years, bi-annual “still alive, please implement” bump!

While looking through the changelogs of the last 5ish Plex updates I find nothing that I actually use/care about. At the same time such a basic feature, that has been asked for for 8 years, is being ignored. If there isn’t an update about playback speed control until the year runs out I’ll check out Jellyfin, switch and warn everyone I know not to use Plex. I like Plex, but I like having the most BASIC functionality of a video player more.
