Tested this out recently and it seems like doing a not comparison for labels works no problem these days as well.
Given that the functionality seems to be there backend how about adding it in some way on the frontend aswell so you don’t have to do this workaround for every user and category?

We’re looking into it.

+1 been waiting for this ever since Home was implemented. Please give us this feature.

If the current software infrastructure to white-list movies already exists, then adding a blacklist option should be minimal and low-risk effort.

Thank you! That would make Plex Administration MUCH easier.

Thanks! So glad to hear this.

Please add this feature soon. I’ve given my younger children access to G and PG films, but they don’t need to have films like ā€œFootlooseā€ accessible to them as well. An inverse filter would make removing select films like this easy and painless.

Hi Elan;
If you are ā€œlooking into itā€ Here is a similar use case that i have that but for TV shows - hopefully this is something you can add to the backlog

please help us sort our added movies easier, it’s been 5 years since this topic has started now

Hey this my first time posting here on this forum. And it is exactly because of this issue. I saw someone pretty much sum it it up in simple sentence: 'Is ridiculous to edit 20000 movies to exclude 1". I don’t have that many, but still.
Also I see a lot of people posting work arounds, and I know it’s maybe possible that way, but the whole idea for me to get Plex and buy a PLexPass pass is convenience.
Second I don’t know if the team is reluctant because people want this for xxx stuff. I think that is having a lot of folks suffer for a few. I just don’t want my parents bothered with some of the weird arthouse or horror movies I download. But I do want a new movie to show up without adding it to a label I did allow. It just seems really non logical to work that way.

Cheers a very happy Plex user(although a bit astonished that this is not ficksed)

Powerful filters already exist on the library view which allow us to perform operations like ā€œisā€, ā€œis notā€, ā€œcontainsā€, ā€œdoes not containā€, ā€œbegins withā€, ā€œends withā€, etc. If we could just get the restrictions system updated to allow us to create filters like what we already get on the web experience then it probably would satisfy most people’s concerns.

:100:

Hi Elan,

Your reply was already rather short for al the folks posting there elaborate arguments. Would you at least give a substantial update. It’s been 4 month and no word or changes. With every update I’m hoping it’s ficksed, but disappointment every time!!!

This would be really useful… why is it so hard to add it? Emby has this feature…

Also new to the support forum, because of this feature. I’m kind of shocked this has been such an ordeal, 5 years ?!? WOW. Seems like common sense kind of thing to do, the setting section is called ā€œrestrictionsā€ but then we select what to allow… uhhh, what? It’s like securing your home by opening only certain doors. Technically it works, I suppose, but is ā€˜back ass-wards’ and not a very good user experience. But I guess this leaves open the opportunity for someone else to come in, make a product that is more intuitive, suck in all that metadata and convert a bunch of customers.

First post in the forums here. This is frankly embarrassing that this feature is not included. And after 5 years of it being identified. Please, Plex team, incorporate this necessary feature.
