You need to pay extra to your ISP to have crazy upload speed?

You can share with more than 15 people without a problem.

HOWEVER, you can only have 15 people in your "home" setup.

To be fair he doesn't need "crazy" upload speed. 100Mbits should be enough, and that's not what I would call crazy.

Don't know where you live, but here in Canada most consumer level Internet packages upload at 10Mbps max. Bell for example, according to their website you'd have to take the 175Mbps package which is 130$/month +15% taxes. Not cheap.

That's pretty reasonable to me. I would like to get that speed at those prices. Ā

That doesn't sound that expensive. I“m currently paying about ~$70 CAD for 100/100Mb connection and 1TB download (unlimited upload.) 200Mb connection is about 100$ and 400Mb about $140 with no data caps, so not that different.

Wow do you guys make your shared users pay? Sounds expensive for a plex server, on top of storage costs…

removed.

No. It's crossed my mind but this is really just a hobby at this point, keeping everything streamlined and shows/movies up to date. I would have the same fileserver, same internet connection and similar hardware even if it was only me using the server. The only difference is that with my very active userbase (4000-5000 streams per month), when something goes down, I stay up - until it's fixed.

If this is the case. how can i share it? Dont we share it from the home server? then how?

Now I want to know what you said. :P

Just "assume" I posted something in the wrong thread. :)

With the latest .17 version of the server software go into the users screen.
On the left You'll see "My Home" and "Friends".

Select FRIENDS on the left then the button INVITE FRIEND top right.

If you wanted to add a new home user you click on the "My Home" tab on the left then the ADD USER button.

So INVITE FRIEND has no limit but ADD USER is for home use and has a limit of 15 users.
