[implemented] Show (and Filter) Audio Language on Movie Views

waiting almost 4yrs now, but only 101 likes for the original feature request post?! that might be the reason why Plex Devs are probably not looking at this

Probably yeah. For me this is a feature that’s very important, and I almost did not get Plex Pass because it’s missing. I’d think that a few other people feel the same. In my case I invested even though it’s not there yet, but I’m hoping it will be at some point. Plex is still the most mature solution on the market, but yeah this featured is surely missed.

We are still waiting for it

Additionally it would be nice if you could create Smart Views where you could apply a language filter and give (in my case my parents) access to only this filtered view

+1

We deserve it, it’s a expected core feature when dealing with medias.

My workaround… exporting my Plex library to a CSV file using the plex2csv plug-in making sure the CSV shows all metadata (change exportation Level in settings) and manually adding them to a Collection under filters.

Once you complete a first round of classification, you still need to manually add new additions to the Collections.

I’ve never found any other solutions and this one is quite a painful process.

Anybody else have a better work around?

Also, accessing a Collection is not something natural, you need to get all your users to know how subtile it is to access it or if they actually exist.

Allowing to pin a Collection to stand as a Library entry in Plex client would be a nice-to-have in case this request never get considered.

Heres the DOC for plex2csv

P.S. Don’t forget to vote on the initial post so this feature is took seriously.

This would be such a useful feature!

That indeed would be a killer feature for any person who speaks more than one language.

This was requested 5 years ago and despite being something very important has not been integrated. I hope someday.

Yes, please add this feature! Here in Switzerland we watch series in English and German. At the moment, it’s very unhandy to manage multiple languages within PLEX! A filter to just show all shows and movies available in one language would be great!

This is a real nuisance / shortcoming of Plex. Otherwise a great system, it ignores pretty much the needs of people with multi-language content. I am wondering if I should switch systems as handling multi-language content in Plex is such a lot of work… It is a pity.

+1 on this

Being part of a multilanguage family, this is a key feature. The plex2csv is just too cumbersome.

Something so simple seems not to be a priority for Plex developers. 5 years have passed since the request was opened without a response.

I too would find this feature very useful. I mean, why create an API for the ability to do this, but never implement it? I find having to make collections for this to be a poor work around as I’d prefer to have such language collections be for media that was originally produced in a given language and not just media that has subs or audio tracks that include it… (plus you know, having to manually create these…)

I’m already running this automatically, with Plex API script. First run retrieves ratingKey from XML, with matching subtitle/audio language. Second run creates/updates playlist/collection, on each run. But like the other users I prefer to have this as built-in filter view.

I could go either way with filtering on foreign audio, but being able to enable captions on a movie or show before starting the movie or show would be great. Coming from a house with hearing impaired kids and adults, it’s a feature I already will know will be missed when we change to the new PMP player 2.0. It was in the previous version, I would like to see it added to the new version as well.

omfg… this is a stupid simple filter and is requested 5 (FIVE!!!) YEARS AGO !!!
but now we got plex news, which NOBODY WANTED !!! F*** PLEX
boy i bet emby is implementing this first

This is my workaround

  1. I saved my movies files on 3 subfolders: Movies/English, Movies/French, Movies/Multi (for movies with both French and English soundtracks. )
  2. I create two Movies Libraries: Eng - Movies, and Fra - Films
  3. I added to each movies library, the subfolder of its language and the subfolder: Movies/Multi (Option: Add folders).
  4. I set the chosen language to each movies library (Option: General), so even the movie description are in the right language.

If a movie soundtrack is selected to one language in a library, it look like it stay selected once for all. I didn’t make any test for other users to see if they got the selected soundtrack language too.

Bumping. I would like this feature.

After 5 years of waiting finally the filter by language and subtitle language has been implemented. Thank you.

Is there a blog post or change log about this?
