I can’t believe they haven’t done this yet. Being able to sync playlists is pretty basic functionality… Well, actually I can, becuase this is plex and sparkly shiny features are way more important than boring useful ones
I’ve been investigating alternatives for music recently - Subsonic / Madsonic have clunky clients and require another subscription for ‘standard’ features. Ampache is free but seems very clunky around the setup and music identification…
Plex with live playlists (which are easy with it’s sql backend) and syncable playlists would beat all of them hands down…
+1, this is the only thing stopping me using Plex for my entire media consumption needs (and from buying a lifetime subscription).
Essential for on-the-go, with mobile internet being unstable whilst driving - or on planes/roadtrips/boats etc… where mobile internet just plain isn’t available.
+1 and voted as well. Click the LIKE thumbs up in the first thread to actually vote. Just found out about playlists and this would greatly cut down on hard drive space if i dont have to copy movies out of the general movie library into a secondary movie library.
Users can create playlists. We can listen to them with a Plex app wherever. Friends can listen to your music. Yet somehow it seems to be a giant task to allow friends to listen to your playlists. As a software developer myself I find this pretty surprising. The friend session should just be a paired down version of the full experience. If architected properly this should literally be a one line code enhancement. What’s the real hold up Plex?

+1; really need to be able to share playlists with managed users. In my case, it is largely because I’ve made my playlists in the main administrator account, but would like to use a managed user for day-to-day stuff. Huge pain to recreate…
It will be a year in 6 days since Elan responded to a question in the blog about playlists sync and sharing, indicating that they were on their way. Since that time, I’ve gotten bored with music videos and haven’t watched one in months. I also, still have not found a functional use for lyrics - maybe a karaoke party? Everyday though, as I drive onto the campus I work at, which as a US Fed Installation and pretty much has nill for cell phone/data reception, I wonder when I’ll be able to actually listen to my playlists at work, without firing up that cumbersome, annoyingly outdated, subsonic server (although the DSub app is pretty bad-arse…Plex should hire that guy for android development).
