I'm thankful that playlists were added to Plex but I have little to no use for them in private use. I know what files I have and when I want to play them but my friends don't. How can I make my created playlists public so that everyone connected to my server can view them?
**2019 Update!** Man, I can't believe the response this thread has received! I honestly thought Plex would ignore my suggestion and the thread would be buried along with the others but thanks to you guys it wasn't! Please check out the link to the Shared Playlists board below and vote! I started this thread way back in 2014 but maybe we can get this featured added by 2020. Fingers crossed!you cannot share playlist currently. not sure when/if that will be made available.
Curious though why your friends need a playlist to find content. i'm not a big playlist user myself, my friends have never had trouble searching my server or viewing by dated added to find new content.
I would use a shared playlist as a "Recommended" or "Now for Something Completely Different" section on the server that I could change regularly.
A search isn't really helpful if you are just looking for a suggestion for a movie. I know you can filter by Genre, year, etc, but I doubt that most users really use that option very often, and then it's limited to a filter within the section they are in
The playlist would not likely be used by me personally. But I have had friends text or phone to ask for a couple of suggestions for a movie. A playlist could include videos from all sections (TV, Movie, Home Video) of the library without duplicating the file (or linking the file) to an new temporary section.

I agree with leelynds and Thrillaforilla, to be able to share playlists would be very useful for me to recommend new content to my users. Hopefully this feature will be added soon.

I would also love this feature. Mostly for music. I share my library with my mother and actually have a taste for the music selection. I am just too lazy to do it myself.

I have online friends accessing my server externally from all around the world and we would really like to share playlists with eachother.
When we want to give recommendations searching for individual songs just isn't that practical.

I would share a list of movies/music for my Mother-in-law and my parents who do not want to search from their TVs.
I could also see creating different photo album views using this method. I could mix photos and videos from a vacation or event in one vacation playlist.
