These, together with other ssa/ass-related fixes are crucial, especially since v8 of Android app. Now video can be transcoded, but ssa/ass subs are passed through as-is, because target should render them by itself. In theory this is great news, but subtitles are not rendered correctly if they’re complex enough. For example, support for positioning in SSA subtitles was only added in the latest version, which is 2.12.
There is a post in another thread which states that these fixes has basically nothing to do with Plex which is just untrue… Plex does not implement any fixes for these particular issues and this forum plagued with requests to fix exactly these issues is all the proof needed. Seeing a lot of these fixed in upstream and us not getting the fixes is frustrating, frankly.
Had to resort to setting “burn-in subtitles” to “always” which is clearly sub-optimal.
But it should, shouldn’t it?
Anyway, I sincerely hope that ExoPlayer gets updated soon.
