Does anyone know if Plex is using exoplayer v2 yet please?
My OTA .ts files do not direct play on the Plex Shield app, but direct play fine on the Plex Samsung app, Rasplex, Kodi, etc. It feels like a client capability problem. Transcode works, but my server is not powerful enough to do 1080p
The files are h.264/aac_latm (multiple audio streams). I’m in NZ
If I run the file through ffmpeg and save to mkv just using vcodec -copy and acodec -copy it direct plays perfectly. Would love to not have to fuss around with a post processing step though.
I’ve had this ongoing problem for years, and hoping now with DVR there will be some resolution.
Plex PHT also used to have problems (audio sync/video tearing) and was fixed with subsequent updates.
I have my fingers crossed that exoplayer v2 is the answer

More importantly, does ExoPlayer 2 help us get closer to TrueHD passthrough.
We are working on the TrueHD issues with NVIDIA, no ETA at the moment I’m afraid.

A wild Engineer appeared! I have to ask… on your list of priorities, ExoPlayer 2 is near the top I imagine?
There’s no ETA either unfortunately as its a fairly big change with lots to consider.
Can you let us know what version of ExoPlayer is being used in the latest beta / latest shield update?
We use a custom ExoPlayer build, at the moment it’s version r1.5.12. The TrueHD (and Atmos) pass-through support is available in this for the NVIDIA SHIELD as long as your on the latest SHIELD OS update.

Thanks for the insightful answer. Do you mind if I ask if the transition to ExoPlayer 2.0 is near the top of your priority list? I know you lot hate ETA’s but it would be nice to know if we’re going to be waiting 6 months a year etc. Please feel free to tell me to sod off if you don’t want to answer.
Is anything you want beta testers to specifically test?

It’s hard to give ETAs as we have alot of moving pieces and the ExoPlayer v2 upgrade is part of other playback improvements. It’s coming though with lots of awesome things!!
