Is there a way to exclude adult titles from being matched to my movies? I had a Disney movie in French, “Contes et légendes Vol 2.avi”, that was automatically assigned match “Köttets lusta”, with a lady showing her breasts on the poster. This was in my kids’ cartoon channel. Needless to say I’m extremely frustrated.
You might change your workflow. I created a 'Test Movie" library and directory on storage. All new movies are processed, named and dropped into this area first. That way I can see how Plex matches the files, how extras are processed, how collections are processed and troubleshoot before it goes into the regular libraries. Did this for TV as well.
Avoids any problems and cuts down on doing the “Plex Dance” for me.
Just try to name everything in English, it will show in French nevertheless if you have selected this as your language. The title is only used for matching, which works better than titles in non-english. I do the same for my German files.
It would be much better if Plex allowed filtering out adult titles though.
It does:
Add a home user for your kids and set a filter to only allow entries with a certain age rating. Done.
If something does not have a rating, it will not show up.
I guess you need to have Plex pass in order to use home users.
Correction: The term is “managed user”: https://support.plex.tv/articles/203948776-managed-users/
I think the issue will always come down to Plex having to rely upon external resources. I’m pretty sure Plex doesn’t explicitly handle adult content unless you specifically add the agents, plug-in’s etc. I think this instance was an external source having something unexpected. Again this is why I do what I do. No surprises in the main libraries by using a test one first.
Do you have the “Include adult content” checked for the library in question? You really shouldn’t get adult content although since the sources are user created it’s possible something wasn’t set correctly and gets through. This would have to be corrected in the source however depending on the agent you are using.
Ah, so there is such an option, thanks for bringing it up. It wasn’t checked in the case of my channel though, so something did slip through.
The agent is “Plex Movie”, I’ll see if I can pinpoint which DB has this title not flagged as adult content.
Thanks everyone for your help with this!
Alright, so, I’ve found the title on The Movie Database. It has the same poster that was assigned to my movie. I registered so I could flag it as adult, however I discovered that it was already flagged:
This appears to me to be a bug in Plex. If someone who reads this has the ability to report this to Plex Support, that would certainly be appreciated.
Do you still have the item matched incorrectly? The xml for the item would be helpful in identifying where it’s coming from. You can find how to get the Media Info from here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201998867-investigate-media-information-and-formats/
Wow. I’ve never noticed that checkbox. I had it unchecked and was able to duplicate the original poster’s problem with a dummy file.
IMDb is the culprit, below is the XML.
However, if you look at the title on IMDB, it doesn’t have the poster, and it is also identified as an X-rated film. So it is still problematic that it gets picked up by Plex.
