Incorrect year being allocated

Server Version#: 1.18.9.2578
Player Version#: N/A

Hi,

I name all my files and folders as suggested in Plex help and this has never been a problem, for example:

/Movies
   /Avatar (2009)
      Avatar (2009).mkv
   /Batman Begins (2005)
      Batman Begins (2005).mp4
      Batman Begins (2005).eng.srt
      poster.jpg

However, I'm having a problem with the film Total Recall (1990). I have both the 1990 version and 2012 version. Both are displaying the correct poster but the 1990 version is showing the year 2012 no matter what I do.

As said it is named correctly as a file within the correctly named folder and when it starts identifying it finds it as the 1990 version (see attached image 1.png), but a few seconds later it changes this to the year 2012 but with the 1990 version poster (see attached image 2.png).

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks.

Show us your naming , exactly as you have it please.
Showing us the support article doesn’t help

Hi Chuck,

This is copied and pasted so there’s no mistake:
Folder: Total Recall (1990)
File Name: Total Recall (1990).mkv

I’ve just noticed another one as well, The Elephant Man which has been tagged as a 2019 film when it’s a 1980 film:
Folder: The Elephant Man (1980)
File Name: The Elephant Man (1980).mkv

Thanks

Looking at your case, I just created them.

[chuck@lizum ~.36]$ ls /vie/qa/movies/*Recall*
/bin/ls: No match.
[chuck@lizum ~.37]$ make-movie "Total Recall (1990)"
Making "Total Recall (1990)"
Done
[chuck@lizum ~.38]$ make-movie "Total Recall (2012)"
Making "Total Recall (2012)"
Done
[chuck@lizum ~.39]$ ls -la /vie/qa/movies/*Recall*
/vie/qa/movies/Total Recall (1990):
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 5 00:23 ./
drwxr-xr-x 27 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 5 00:23 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 chuck chuck 286 Apr 5 00:23 Total Recall (1990).mkv

/vie/qa/movies/Total Recall (2012):
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 5 00:23 ./
drwxr-xr-x 27 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 5 00:23 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 chuck chuck 286 Apr 5 00:23 Total Recall (2012).mkv
[chuck@lizum ~.40]$

I get this:

Does the 1990 have an embedded title and is it a MP4 ?

I’m not sure what you mean by “an embedded title”, how can I check this for you?

It’s an mkv not an mp4.

Thanks

You have MKV’s.. not to fear.

As for The Elephant Man, no issue here on this either

[chuck@lizum ~.40]$ make-movie "The Elephant Man (1980)"
Making "The Elephant Man (1980)"
Done
[chuck@lizum ~.41]$ ls -la /vie/qa/movies/*Elephant*
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 5 00:30 ./
drwxr-xr-x 28 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 5 00:30 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 chuck chuck 294 Apr 5 00:30 The Elephant Man (1980).mkv
[chuck@lizum ~.42]$

These discrepancies make me question your Agent stacking in Settings - Server - Agents.

hmmmm

I’ve never really understood the section in there. Can you possibly show me what a typical correct setup might be so I get the right settings?

I just tried to “unmatch” it and it changed the year to 2015

Here’s the easier way.

  1. Move the files to where they are not monitored.
  2. Scan files
  3. Then Empty Trash
  4. Then Clean Bundles (this may take a minute so be patient)
  5. Movie them back and let then scan as new.

Actually I’ve just resolved it Chuck…

You are right, it is the agent because when I tell it to “Fix Match” and “Auto” with “Plex Movie” it fixed both movies.

Can you just show me how to setup the correct settings as I clearly have it setup wrong?

Thanks.

Notice LMA as at the bottom of the active list (important)

Fantastic, thanks Chuck! I’ve copied it exactly the same so hopefully no more issues.

Could I ask one last thing? Is there a way I can re-scan all movies to fix any incorrect dates so I don’t need to check them all manually?

I have lots of movies setup with custom names for arranging their order so I don’t want it to interfere with that though. If there’s no way without interfering with the custom sort order I’ll do it manually?

Thanks.

Okay i’ll give that a go… thanks again Chuck and I hope you stay safe in these strange times
