I have added the movie “The Interview” which was released in 2014. It’s the one were the two guys go to North Korea to try and kill it’s leader. But Plex labeled it as The Interview from 2012 some Crime/Thriller movie. Anyway to get around this so that the correct movie info appears?
Thanks,
Have you tried to fix the match? Go to the movie and at the top, right side select the 3 dots. That will show you a drop down. Choose Fix match. It should bring up a selection to choose from
If you don’t try to get into the habit of adding the year of release in the file/folder name /Movies/The Interview (2014)/The Interview (2014) 1080p DTS 5.1.mkv
but yeah you can do a fix match to get it right as well
That movie should be named “The Interview (2014).ext” and after the movie name gets changed you need to perform the “Plex dance.”
Move the movie out of where Plex can see it
Scan the library involved
Empty trash
Clean bundels
Move the movie back to the location you want it in
Scan the library again
Also, before you do the above, in your settings/agents move “Local media assets” below every other agent in all the agents except for “Personal”
If that does not fix the problem try and use “Fix match” on that movie. The correct choice should be in the first few choices.
Edit: While @BigWheel is correct I do not use separate folders for each movie and it works fine. The separate folders are really only needed for extras, trailers etc. which I find useless but others seem to like.

This is my founder structure for all my movies…
/movies/The Interview (2014)/The Interview 2014.mkv it looks like from the Plex database doesn’t have the 2014 movie in it. I had to switch to The Movie Database to find it. Would have through Plex would have been on top of movie releases.
We don’t have any database. We a have proxy/clone of some but we don’t maintain any ourselves. Plex Movie is just the name if the agent not where it gets things.

I’m with you on that. I do however organize by letter though… A\An Apple a Day (2018).mkv
…etc…I actually noticed a HUGE speed increase from PLEX after alphabetizing by letter…
