One of my plex clients runs on a Chromebox with openELEC/Plex. It plays HD audio (DTS-HD) flawlessly. One missing feature with the Plex Server is that it doesn’t identify or display which titles contain HD audio tracks.
My wish is for plex to recognize this and add it to the index so the titles can be filtered properly. I would love to be able to filter or create a category that only shows HD audio.
Additionally, a similar filter would be helpful for audio codecs, some devices (roku) do not support DTS and require transcoding. It would be nice to be able to filter by audio codecs in general. MP3, DTS, AC3, DTS-HD True-HD…
Please do add this. I have lots of HD movies that use either DTS-MA and Dolby True HD. I have noticed that Dolby THD is showing correctly but, in the case of DTS-MA, we simply get a DTS 5.1 indicator. I have many examples of DTS 6.1 or 7.1 which are not correctly displayed as such on PHT. This would be a start and then adding the filtering suggested above could come next.
Currently I separate all movies by 3 folders. 1080p (which includes HD audio), HD audio (720p and lower), and Stereo (but possibly quality video). Currently I use something called mediainfo, from mediaarea.net to identify video and audio quality (all you have to do is hover over file with mouse pointer). This made it easier to identify what had stereo vs HD audio (as well as audio types). Just a work around for those in this thread.
