Indicate multiple versions of movies on clients

This would be simple enough to fix! Currently on clients movies with multiple version is well tucked away in not very visible.

What client are you talking about?
I can confirm there’s currently no multi-version indicator in iOS, Apple TV and Android TV (blue square/circle with the number of versions on top of the poster; currently on Plex for iOS 7.4, tvOS 7.5 beta, Android TV 8.4.2).

I can still see this indicator in Plex Web (4.34 + 4.40), Plex for Mac/Windows (1.16.0) and Plex Media Player (2.58.0)

Hosted App:

While the indication there are versions present is represented - actually selecting one (Dubbed/Undubbed) does seem to be a challenge…

I agree… still that’s a whole different topic that has a major feature suggestion of its own. I’m more than happy to promote that other suggestion as I’m desperately waiting for that as well).

I actually wanted you to find that one… I like to keep an eye on Feature Requests with a Thousand Plus votes that are old enough to start drawing Social Security…

… and also point out this whole ‘Version’ thing eludes Plex - and has for quite some time…

I am speaking in general terms and as you pointed out yourself it is missing on many clients. Multiple Cuts Of Movie is a even better suggestion but as always Plex development is painfully slow. Sometimes I even wonder if they read the feature requests/ideas.

For that case I recommend taking a look at the active discussion some Plex team members have in the feature suggestion category… and the threads tagged as implemented.

Mate, I have been a member for plus 10 years, Implementation priority is just terrible.

Where do you find thisimplemented tag, as I can’t see it in the list of tags…

not so much a tag… usually a manually added prefix to the post title
like those; now looking at it this seems incomplete (need to check)

Or to update the info field like this request More Info in "Play Version"

Do I have to say more?

I also refer to this thread: [Implemented] - Multiple Cuts Of Movie
TV Series DVD Special Features / Extras (Behind The Scenes, Interviews, Trailers etc..) - #6 by JuiceWSA

Being able to manually add data and separate “the same” movies should be a fairly simple task. Users should be able to manually add information into the database like “Final cut”, “Directors cut”, “Extended version”, “Theatrical version” and some notes.

Closely related to this is when you are adding extra material (trailer, behind the scenes etc) associated with a movie. Doing so without indicating multiple versions of a film is impossible today. Material like this should be sub category called “extra” that perhaps is not being indexed at all.

A workaround is obviously “separating” two films in the database but it really doesn’t help you/serve any purpose as different film version is not part of the database today.

Plex Web → details page
There’s now the dedicated Versions field (top-right column → “8.8 Mbps, 1080p and 1 more”, clicking on the 1 more will display all available versions).

You should find the same on your Android… it seems my eyes are not good enough to discern that on the tiny screenshot you included

Increased picture size old man

ok… seems the new version handling on details pages has not yet found its way to the Android client

Here’s that ‘New Version Handling’ in Action:

As Usual - Plex ‘Solutions’ always leave Users wanting more…

Nobody said anything about an update to the play version dialog… the update/announcement was solely about dropping the duplicate badge from the poster on the movie details page… and instead having the versions listed on the page itself.

2022 clean-up: duplicate (while that other thread is newer, it’s collected significantly more votes; therefore closing this one)
