Indirect connection on same computer

I just installed the Windows10 Beta, and it’s telling me that a direct connection isn’t possible. This is the same box I’m running my server on… What do I need to do to fix this?

Does the same thing happen with the non-beta app?

Maybe I have the same problem.

I use the “Allow insecure connections - On same Network” with all other Plex apps without a problem, including the Windows Store non-beta app.

I changed in the beta app the “Allow insecure connections” setting to “On same Network”, but it shows me an “orange ! indirect” and its lose the connection when i try to play something.

I have the same issue. Running a local server on my Windows 10 PC. Once I enable remote access on the server I’m able to connect, however for some reason the beta app is using an external connection so playing anything with higher bitrate than my upload speed doesn’t go so well…

The old Windows Store Plex app doesn’t have this issue for me, it connects and plays anything without hassle when remote access on the server is turned off.

Hey guys, I’m on the same boat here. Beta is streaming indirectly, but the non beta w10 works directly.

Can someone send me the logs for the beta app when that happens?

pombeirp hope this helps, I generated the report via “email diagnostics” a few minutes after refreshing the server panel where it says its an indirect connection.

Thanks

Same is happening with me. Let me know if you need more logs.

@COBRAws: the app gets no answer from your server at 192.168.1.106 throughout all the logs. Are you able to open https://192-168-1-106.c23ee8d18cc0436f88cc71e2914e23fe.plex.direct:32400/identity in your browser?

Same problem for me on Windows 10. When connecting from other computers I have no issues using both the Windows App and beta.

@thetreat: can you send me your logs?

@boroboy: not sure I understand. Do you mean that when you use the app from other computers you don’t see the problem?

@pombeirp I tried to attach logs but can’t seem to figure it out… It just brings up the dropdown, I paste in the path and then it goes away…

Trying replying from email and attaching…

correct

Connecting to server set up on same Windows 10 computer results in indirect connection for me too.
Connect to my friends computer (who is via WAN on the other side of the Atlantic) results in a direct connection, and I’m able to play back in higher quality than 1 Mbps that my indirect connection on the same computer gets.

Can you please send me logs? If your router is doing DNS rebinding protection, it would be normal for you to not be able to establish a direct connection inside your network, and at the same time be allowed to do a direct connection outside.

Logs sent. Thanks for the quick response! Other plex clients on the same computer (Plex Home Theater and the old Store App) works fine.

Sorry for the delay, I had network issues, my IP changed so I assumed I could update the above address.

I was having the same issue. Windows App works but the beta app was an indirect connection. I found this to be similar https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/178406/windows-10-app-issue for me. I resolved the issue with http://loopback.codeplex.com/
