Initial Impression of new Apple TV App

Overall impressions are visually it’s nice, but everything seems to require more clicks and time than before. So far this is all mostly minor stuff but a downgrade in experience in my opinion.

Can we please get the option back to just press the play button to start the highlighted item like the old app? Having to either long press or go click into the show and then choose watch just slows down watching something and adds more steps.

Also, is there a way to dismiss the overlay without having to wait for it to time out? If I just want to see how long is left on a program I have to swipe and wait for timeout vs just a quick tap of the trackpad on the remote twice.

With that, can the overlay be displayed on pause not on resume?

Can we choose a default audio track? Right now it always defaults to stereo when a surround track is available. It would be nice to prefer the highest quality available not the first track on the file.

Hi @mau47 do you have your default audio languages set on your Plex profile? If so, does the behaviour to see in the Preview app match the existing Plex app?

@chrisallen Apologies for the delay in responding, both audio tracks are in english, just stereo vs surround, I have the language set in my profile to english but the behavior between apps is different, I am not sure if theres a surround vs stereo preference I am missing, I did double check and didn’t see anything.

On the existing app, it defaults to the stereo track on first launch of the app and very occasionally will reset but generally speaking if I set audio to the surround sound track it remembers that preference across everything I play. On the new experience, it only remembers it for the specific program I am watching, if I play anything else it defaults back to the stereo track again.

I am also occasionally experiencing an issue on the new app where the surround track will randomly lose audio all together and I have to toggle between tracks to get sound back, the same items play fine on the existing app.
