SHORT VERSION:
Action: Initiate playback from item poster, of a TV show, on a new device.
Expected behavior: Plex plays first unwatched episode (unwatched episodes match correctly on new device).
Actual behavior: Plex plays first episode of the series, despite it’s watched status.
How do I force (sync) the poster playback button to play the first unwatched TV episode?
FWIW - if I use instead the “Watch Next Episode” button on the new device, it will play the correct episode (say E05), and if I then return to the original device and initiate playback from the show poster, it will correctly play E06 next - so the old device even syncs to new one, but the new device always plays E01.

Just purchased a Fire TV Cube, downloaded Plex and it connected to my server.
It synced watched/unwatched states, posters, etc. without issue.
Except that if I initiate playback of a TV show from an item poster, Plex plays the first episode, not the first unwatched episode.
If I drill into the item and press “Play next episiode” instead, it then corretly plays the first unwatched episode.
But shouldn’t playback from the item poster be synonymous with “Play next episode” in the context of a TV show?
The new fire tv cube is the latest example, however my wife’s had this problem when she flips between our TV and her iPad as well. At the time I seemed to fix it then with an option “Add to queue” or something like that but I don’t quite recall, and I can’t seem to find it now.
However I can’t think of a credible reason Plex should assume because I changed players I want to start the show over. Not when it’s the same user etc, and when it’s displaying the same number of unwatched episodes.
Is there something I’m missing? Is this deliberate? Is it a glitch?
Any tips on getting the first unwatched episode to play from the item poster?
Thanks,
Alex
