Use seasonpass to jailbreak, boot tethered using seasonpass after downgrade otherwise you will never boot into the Apple TV. Install nitotv from the nitoinstaller which installs updatebegone I get all the new apps and no updates!
Only thing that sucks is you have to hook it to a computer to boot it tethered everytime you lose power to the device but I would rather deal with that then update or run a chance of updating to ios6+
I dont plan on unplugging my atv that often so I can deal with it. Game of thrones here is come :)
EDIT*
I have since reverted back to 5.2 using my saved .shsh used seasonpass to jb untethered since I dont really care about any other apps but hbogo took a few tries but go it to go finally on Seasonpass.
I actually just added the 2nd portion into the addsite.mc and I found this plist in plexconnect.log. I did not need to edit webserver.py
Sweeeeeeeeet you are the f$&king man! Im reverting back to 5.2, gotta love hbogo on 5.2 I tried to find other bag.plists but none of them seemed to work maybe I needed to use your other method using web server.py edits but every time I tried plexconnect would fail. I just really don’t care or need the other apps to work in my situation so it works for me
A lot of the other apps are a monthly cost as well such as crunchyroll and others that I couldn’t find the bag.plist for anyways.
Yep no go one 3.2 version. tinyumbrella won't save any shsh for it..shot I know I shouldn't have upgraded...here is hoping someone figures how to do it on 6.0
Yes on first post links, Webserver is soooo much easier tho but it is avail. Just shut off plexconnect temporarily if you go with the web server on port 80 otherwise just leave it running.
@wahlman.j: there is no way you can get plexconnect running on the AppleTV. You always need the app running on another machine because this method only allows you to create another link on you AppleTV, not install an actual application. As stated by the topic starter, the apps on the AppleTV are just website and not actual applications.
But I think it would be the easiest to use the dnsserver of plexconnect. The only thing that has to be changed is to disable the intercept for trailers.apple.com to get the current application running side by side the trailers-app. Because all code is based on atv.plexconnect and the built-in dns server is already serving that, why do the effort of changing all that?
The only thing you have to do I think is add the bag.plist, plex icons and addsite.mc to the assests folder and you’re all set! Just use atv.plexconnect as host and the files are always hosted as plexconnect is running anyway.
Im using vevo and hbogo right now, they are working as they should on ios 5.2 even tho they are 5.3+ apps, links, or whatever (im going to call them apps from now on). How do we get the plexconnect app without installing its bag.plist to the atv without using the add site app? I dont see how some parts of your statement are correct. I have seen guys with a plexconnect icon on the atv, had to of gotten there somehow, I dont think by adding stuff to plexconnect its going to make that app magically appear on the atv. Have you done this yourself? I understand how it works for the most part, just looking for a full how-to from anyone that has sucessfully installed the new plexconnect app on the atv. Ive created quite a few things for osx and plexconnect and the atv for it all to work automatically, if you look at my signature I try to simplify things so its extremly easy for anyone to get plexconnect working for osx at least. I really think they are using this new plexconnect app as we used to use the trailers app for plexconnect which is such an improvement if it works as I believe it does, of course we still need pms running on our pc/mac/linux box for everything to work its been like that all along.
I tried to install add site profile yesterday to plexconnect web-server, but I work with it for first time and I have not enough time to complete this job. But good man have done this already. Thanks a lot. I will change it to a new plexconnect code, will test it, and post here the results.

What people have done to get the Plex-icon on the AppleTV is jailbroken it and replaces the Trailers-icon or copied it on the AppleTV itself. Al the things you suggest can work or can be done if you have an AppleTV with a jailbreak. The thing about this 'hack' is that you can do this without jailbreaking the AppleTV. If you actually want to run PlexConnect (the python-scripts and all) on the AppleTV you HAVE to jailbreak your AppleTV. Otherwise you have to keep the PlexConnect-app running on a separate machine and in that case you can add a website with the bag.plist.

I got the Plex icon on the AppleTV and I didn't jailbreak it. When you add the bag.plist file through the Add Site functionality, you can specify the icon location in the plist as I explained in a previous post.
About what you said regarding it being easier with the DNS hack...that implies that if your PC is not on, you can't do anything with your AppleTV. With this new hack, you can do everything as usual with your PC off, the only thing that won't work is Plex itself.
You still have to have a part of PlexConnect running (only the webserver part) at least for now...I'm thinking about investigating the pure JavaScript solution, which would talk directly to PMS without PlexConnect, and transforming the XML response. Looking at the VEVO source code, this is what it seems to do...load some JSON from the server and transform it for the AppleTV. Plex would probably be more complex, but I'm willing to give it a try. If a pure JavaScript solution was available, this would allow people with Plex capable NAS devices to remove the middleman (the PC) completely.
PlexConnect is an AWESOME solution, specially given the previous situation for ATV3 where you couldn't do anything with it, but it would be a lot better if the PC didn't have to be there at all.

You can run PlexConnect on that NAS as well...
Very true, what I wanted to hightlight in the previous post was that we don't need the DNS hack with this new solution...the JavaScript part...I'll probably just play a little with it see where it goes (I'm a web developer and I like developing in JS) but as you said it's not really needed.
