Sorry you need ifaith to dump .shsh on 5.3 and 6 known issue with tinyumbrella
I think that only works with ATV 2...I couldn't get it to work with the ATV 2013 version
You should be able to dump your .shsh on atv2/3 and atv3 2013 model on ios 5.3 & 6 as long as apple is still signing those ipsw’s via ifaith (windows only)
Use a microusb cable to hook the atv to your pc, wait about 2min for the atv to boot. Run ifaith, then click show available shsh cashes on server, it should then detect your atv and it will run you thru the guided .shsh backup process. You might be trying to dump to quickly. I dont think you need to be in dfu, if its not working reset your pc to clear the usb bus. Sometimes the usb gets locked up by ifaith & tinyumbrealla.

Is there any chance someone can create a complete how to from start to finish. Just trying to piece everything together and its hard to follow you guys one guy is saying this one guy is saying another. Just would make it easier to follow so I don’t have to go back and forth so much. Also which files you modifed, moved/added on plexconnect, what edits you performed to the plexconnect files and the atv just to get this plexconnect icon to work. A zipped file with all your plexconnect contents would work to so I can compare my edits to yours. I assume we are running plexconnect from the new plexconnect app bag.plist installed by adding the edited bag.plist to add site on the atv, and the trailers app is now available to use as it was prior to plexconnect hijacking it. Im sure everything works just wanna make it easier on everyone including myself.
If I get a zip of someones working plexconnect folder I can write the how to myself.

I can’t concentrate on ios6 until I get a better idea how this all works. For ios6 you would need probably need a jb first which isnt available yet to modify it to accept addsite.mc or another profile to fix the addsite app. If you read the op links he talks about how that has been broken/removed from ios6. This is why you should save your .shsh, now you are stuck until a fix is released which there is no eta for. Why again did you recommend upgrading ios6?

There are plenty of people who haven't (and may never) upgrade to 6.0, and of course all the people who are on jailbroken 5.2 as well. Waiting until a fix for 6.0 is found before this is made easy to use seems shortsighted, and could leave those folks in the cold.
Also, though I still hope that a fix for 6.0 will be "simple," that doesn't mean it'd be easy to find. I know a few people are already looking, but I'm hoping that eventually this'll hit the mainstream Apple geek community and then a LOT of people will start looking into it.

Of course many people are still on 5.2/5.3 but if we want it to be a nice, quick and official method it must work on the lastet version .. And don't forget all of the new ATV's will come with 6 ..

It's actually very easy method, like the current method level. Anyway, the only thing standing between this and official method is IOS 6.
I have played around with this as in installing apps via addsite.mc just trying to get everything organized on 1 post. Just looking for an easy way to do it with out bouncing from post to post to get it to go. I was able to get hbogo and vevo working on my atv2 5.2, just trying to get this going without putting much effort into trying to decipher how to do it, im sure I can get it just looking for the easy button 
if you look a number of people have this already working that are not developers or admins for plexconnect.
Has anyone actually managed to play media via this added Plex app? I have seen a lot of screenshots with icons but no evidence that Plex is playing video on an unjailbroken ATV3 using this method. Or am I misunderstanding the stage this is at?
If your atv2/3 is on ios 5.3 or lower it should work from what results im seeing.

Sorry, I didn't specify what I did, was quite busy today! But basically I did what dschuetz described. Assuming you have already added the profile, this is what I did.
1- Create the bag.plist like this one(replace with your IP address):

For the templating part is quite easy as there is a variable for it, but the Javascript is a bit more cumbersome as it's hardcoded.
5- Change in Settings.cfg these values as they are not needed anymore. This implies that you don't need the apple TV to have the DNS address pointing to your PC.
enable_dnsserver = False enable_webserver_ssl = FalseAnd that's it. At this point you are only using the WebServer part of PlexConnect which is great. However, as I mentioned in the post yesterday, I've noticed that the AppleTV is clearly slower. I think it's the AddSite profile, because I've reverted everything else and it's still slower.

i was able to downgrade from 6.0 to 5.3 just by holding shift and restore with the 5.3ipws.. I've got everything done up to this point when i try to add the plexconnect bag (http://10.0.1.13:80/assets/bag.plist) apple tv just resprings and nothing happens no icon. i tired rebooting but still no dice. i'm i missing something?
You need addsite.mc installed first then you reset your atv then you install bag.plist from add site app. If you get it to work please post a full tutorial.

i already have that installed.. i belive what was step 1
Have you edited the bag.plist to match your settings? You need to place eveything in the correct directory. I dont know if this is tut is for pc, mac or linux. When I would install bag.plists I would place them in the root directory such as 192.168.1.101:0000/myfolder/bag.plist
definitely need a more comprehensive guide including a video.
