Instructional Media and how to categorize

Server Version#:1.32.7

The main reason I installed Plex was for my instructional video. I honestly don’t care about movies or TV shows.

What I mainly want to be able to do is drill down into a hierarchy and play a series of sequential videos.

So far I’ve been resorting to using libraries to breaking down the major kinds of instruction, but that is only one level.

Also, if the instructional content comes in numbered video content, should I be using TV Shows as the scanner for that?

Thanks for any advice.

When you create a library, you should select “other videos”

This is the kind of library you should use if you don’t want any of the videos to pull online metadata. Instructional videos, personal home movies ect…

If you put those items in a tv library there’s a good chance Plex won’t add them because they don’t have a s01e01 format, or they will get added and mismatched to some other legitimate tv show with a similar sounding name

Once added you can then create playlists or collections if it suits your needs

OK, using Other Videos makes sense given what you outlined, That is what I’ve been doing slowly.

Now how to organize my content hierarchically is what I am struggling with most.
