With the now demise of “Premium TV” using HDHomerun’s service, I see a gap that needs to be filled by incorporating something like “Philo” into the Live guide and Plex’s DVR capabilities. If this could happen then my wife would be eternally grateful cause she misses her cooking shows and Lifetime movies. She hates having to move between services. Of of course one would still have to have a subscription to that service or any other IPTV service but integrating it into Plex would be great since you now have basically eliminated “plug-ins”.
Rumor has it, at CES they were talking to streaming services about trying to incorporate those services onto the Plex. Tidal, is the proof of concept, to show how the integration of subscription services would work… With the idea to have something or someone by the end of the year. I haven’t seen any other information since.
I’m sure Tidal is great for some people, but I’m not one of them. It is still a separate item on the left hand UI. What I want is to have the service incorporated into the Live TV Guide so I can see “all live tv” in one shot and record from a single source guide.
This s what I’m talking about. Way to go Philo and Amazon https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/philo-adds-support-for-the-fire-tv-channel-guide/
Amazon recast is looking better and better every day.
