Intermittent Buffering of LiveTV Streams on Shield

Server Version#: 1.23.4.4712 (MAC) → Ethernet 1GBPS
Player Version#: Latest (Shield) → Ethernet 1GBPS
Tuner Make/Model: Silicondust HDHOME → Ethernet 100Mbps
Guide/Lineup name: All channels
Using XMLTV?: Not Sure
Channel number/Name: All channels

As per below forum recommandation I got the tuner and done the setup

When I stream via my Shield, the live stream is buffering (Yellow cycle) intermittently and very annoying especially when watching news.

When the stream restored, it will take extra couple of seconds to get the audio. Note that I am getting the Audio via my SoundBar and not TV.

Shield is connected the Soundbar via HDMI and Soundbar to TV via EARC.

NOTE: When use the HDHOME APP in Shield TV, the buffering NOT happening hope this will narrow down the troubleshooting.

Similar issue on my nvidia shield pro 2018 plex player. Server version 1.23.4.4712 on a separate linux Ubuntu computer. Connected through Ethernet 1 Gb. My buffering is most for sound and the worst moments is’s buffering each ~ 15 seconds for 1-2 s.
The ridiculous part is that I just setup my fire tv stick 4K through wifi and is playing fine the live tv without buffering at all (will need to test more and see if the behavior change).

How in that possible, the most powerful android TV device is buffering the plex live tv, and the firetv stick 4k is not?

This problem started a few months ago, and I try to update each time a new version is out hopping to solve the above issues, but no luck.

Hope the plex developers read this, and will fix it sooner than later.

PLEX team… any update on this?

@AliveKiller Did you try disabling audio pass-through under settings and see if it goes away? I also get the buffer Circle but it’s very quick. I think it has something to do with the startup time they have set on the Nvidia shield for live TV. They have it so quick now that it has to do micro buffers. But disabling audio pass-through makes this a lot better. With your Soundbar setup I’m not sure how that would work.

Thanks @JasonsPlex for the suggestion. Unfortunately I use an ATMOS soundbar and I need to enable this settings as otherwise it won’t work for me.

I got no problem with buffering at startup as understanding it need to buffer.

Problem is every couple of minutes it’s re-buffering.

Yw, Yeah that buffer thing was happening with me until I disabled audio pass-through. But with the Soundbar that’s going to be problematic:(.

So PLEX Dev team…. You don’t give a FU#6 about your paying customers?

It’s ok. I will keep using the native app.
