Internal Shared storage / USB drive

Server Version#:1.29.0.6244 (smb)

The internal shared storage (12 GB) of the Shield is getting full due to large Music library.
I’ve seen the warning message in the client and cleared it by removing some apps.
Music library media is on a shared network drive.
On the Shield, I have an attached 64GB USB stick configured as Internal Storage (I believe).
The Plex Media Server app is showing 9.5 GB ‘used in internal shared storage’.
Storage is showing the USB drive with almost all space Available.

So I’m assuming the USB stick is not being used for any of the database/metadata? Is that expected or is there something I need to do to allow that to happen?
Thanks!

So it looks like this is the answer to my question?
Moving server data storage location on NVIDIA SHIELD | Plex Support
So it looks like the USB drive should be ‘removable’ storage so I can choose the 3rd option?

"1. Choose the location for your server data directory. The available choices can include:

  • Internal Storage (system storage location): The default location, which is not user-accessible
  • Internal Storage (user accessible storage location): A user-accessible location on the regular internal storage
  • [removable drive name]: The name(s) of one or more removable drives that are connected"

If I do use the USB drive for server data directory - are there better/recommended drives to use for this that work the best?
Thank you!

I am having similar problem. Just purchased a Nvidia Shield Pro and I am trying to set up a plex server. I have a hard drive connected to the usb port on the shield and formatted the drive through the Nvidia Shield settings. However, when I go through the Plex settings > Plex Media Settings> Storage location, there are only two options which are Internal (system storage location and Internal (user accessible storage location). There’s no option for the 3rd option for the removable drive name, which is the one I need.
Any idea why the removable drive is not showing on the PMS data storage location?

I have the same problem
