i will wait plex will make it happen xb1 will be able to host things from it like a remote server
I'm adding my +1 to this request/complaint/whatever, as yesterday FIOS decided it would be down for a day. I immediately rejoice in the fact that no matter what, I can rely upon my good old server and Plex. But as well all know, due to the plexpass check, I (/ the wife) couldn't even watch Plex on my Xbox One. WAF ratings fell off a cliff yesterday as we were huddled around the iPad attempting to watch some terrible vampire based teen drama.
Even if you can't give full functionality, some basic ability to play files whilst not online would be delightful.
Thanks!
Seriously guys, save it. Plex made its own bed when they decided to market to a pretty significant market (XB1 owners) as “now available”. Not only do they NOT communicate with troves of people that are “previewing” the app. They haven’t updated since last December. Meanwhile, the Drobo Plex app has been updated at nearly 10 times in the same time span. If this is truly some sort of “beta” where are the different builds and bug fixes that you normally see with prerelease software. Don’t come in this part of the forums making excuses and telling US that we’re wrong just because we’re NOT satisfied with the way the issues particular Plex app that we signed up to use is being completely ignored. And what makes things worse is that MOST of you “Plex apologist” don’t even use the XB1 app. That probably means you should get lost and tend to your own associated forums. I mean dang, get REAL!
Thread like this wouldn’t pop up if the devs or any Plex representatives would at least acknowledge the issues. I mean this IS the official Plex support forums is it not? Its not like this is some enthusiast FAN site dedicated to home media servers.
I do agree the ads and promotion of the Xbox app are slightly misleading, (and the lack of updates) .... I doubt they will ever put this on the ads because let's be honest, depending on your internet connection, that's around $100/m in costs just to be able to use the Xbox app.
* requires active PlexPass, Internet Connection, and Microsoft Live Account
I'm in the same boat as you. I bought a lifetime plexpass and we should at least get a possiblity to use the app while offline in a local environnement. By the way, I've never experienced a problem with xbl and not being able to connect.
The fact that we are previewing the app is not that much of a big deal, but the lack of roadmap and what to expect is something we should expect. Don't get me wrong, as we pay for 'previewing' the app, we pay for developpement. We can ask for something in return instead of guessing. I don't know how much people are working on the project, but instead of doing a lot of 'alpha' and 'beta' apps for multiple device, you should work on more and tell us at least if developpement are halted on certain platform to give this time to others.
Communication is the key.
Xbox Live seems to be down, therefore the Plex app is down
DLNA here I come!
