If I throttle the internet upload speed, or set the Limit remote stream bitrate, does Plex just not deliver the stream if it would exceed that, or will it automatically transcode that stream to meet the limitations (even if the client “could” DirectPlay it)?
The latter would be awesome!

I appreciate the response, but I am seeing different results. When I set Limit remote stream bandwidth, then an external client tries to play a video that requires more bandwidth, they get this message:
Am I doing something wrong, or misinterpreting this message?
