I’ve updated the IOS app from the store, but still cannot find podcasts anywhere in there. Nor do I see any of the other new features in today’s email, like customizable home screen, etc.
The listing in the App store clearly stated it was last updated on May 30, so what gives? Is there something I need to do to “activate” these features in the app?
Sorry, but that doesn’t help. I’m specifically asking about the IOS app, not the server. That ‘gradual roll out’ isn’t applicable to the IOS app. How would they gradually add it to only some apps at a time?!?

It is being rolled out gradually to the plex user accounts.

It is in fact a staged rollout. Part of the Podcast feature is reliant on the app update (which went live in the app store earlier this morning) and the other part is on the service side, since Podcasts (like News) is not tied to your Plex Media Server, it is a service on it’s own that you can enable/disable. So if you are not seeing it in your iOS app, that means the staged rollout hasn’t hit your Plex account yet. It should all be completing soon. You can try to force quit and relaunch the app to be sure. Otherwise, it should not be long.
@kinoCharlino - I see Podcasts in the Plex/Web app, but not in the Android app. Same Plex account logged in on both. Android app updated today. Any reason why it would show up on one but not the other?

The staged rollouts are done separately for mobile and web, which is likely why you have it on Web, but not on mobile. Web rollouts are all complete, while mobile rollouts are still in progress.

24 hours later, and still nothing. I have deleted and re-DL’ed the app to the phone. It shows when viewing the web app now, so I know its hit my account.
Do I need to do anything to make this show up on the IOS app, or is it just automatic? Really frustrating.
I was not seeing Podcasts in the iOS App either.
I went to the Web App and it was there. I added a Podcast there and went back to the iOS app and Voila! it was there.
tritian: I tried doing that, but am still having trouble.
Using the WebApp, I open a podcast (random one from “popular”), click “Add To My Podcasts”. It gives me a confirmation of “In My Podcasts” and shows the number of episodes in the orange square of the poster. I go back out and click on the “My Podcasts” button and nothing is there. I’ve tried multiple podcasts and none of them carry over to My Podcasts.
I still do not have Podcasts on the IOS app, nor do I have the other new features about customizing the home screen. I’ve even since gotten a brand new phone, with a fresh DL of the IOS app, and still nothing is showing.
Would love a reply from @kinoCharlino as to what may be causing this. I’m now 48 hours after launch and still not functional.
I struggled with this. Here’s what worked for me.
- go to https://app.plex.tv/
- Go to podcasts, farthest to the bottom of the left side navigation
- Add a podcast
- force quit the IOS app by double click home button and swiping up on the plex app
- open the plex app and navigate to “more” in the bottom bar nav
- Here you should now see podcasts, and you can reorder its priority
@familyblom : In my previous post I mentioned I cannot get past Step 3. I can add the podcast on the podcast’s page, but it does not add it to “My PodCasts”.
In addition, Step 5 isn’t there. I have no “More” to navigate in the bottom of the app screen. My app still looks like it did last week. Just “Browse” and “Discover”. I’ve deleted and DL’ed a fresh app from the store, I’ve force-quit, tried it all.
So it seems like I have two issues: 1) can’t adda podcast in the WebApp, and 2) can’t get the IOS app to update.
Still looking for @kinoCharlino I guess to weigh in.
@familyblom - Are you talking about the bottom nav in the iPad app? I don’t have bottom navigation in the iPhone app. I’ve got a podcast added via the web interface but have yet to have it show up anywhere else
Thanks much,
John
@BLite - He’s talking about the IOS app when referencing the “More” in the bottom Nav. Look at the screen shots of the new home screen on mobile that were posted here:
plex.tv/blog/have-plex-your-way/
I do not have this either, BTW.
@trevika - Well hell’s bells -
My Plex app said it was up-to-date, I deleted it, re-installed, and everything is there.
That’s… unusual.
PS - thank you!
@BLite - Hell’s Bells indeed! Just for Sh*ts & Giggles, I deleted it again and DL’ed a fresh copy and oila! Guess third time’s the charm. Thank you!
Now, if only I can get the WebApp to add a podcast to “My Podcasts”…
