[iOS26] HDR not working when Plex is in full screen

Hi !

I’m experiencing a strange HDR playback issue with the iOS app when I try to play an MKV Hybrid HDR10 + Dolby Vision on my iPhone (or other HDR file). I don’t know if it’s because I updated it to iOS 26, but now when I play an HDR file, it’s not playing in HDR. The HDR seems to work only when I’m in PiP (Picture in Picture), or when I open the control center, or when I am in the app switcher. But when I go back to full screen into the app, it goes back to SDR.

By the way, HDR works perfectly in my photos, in Netflix, Apple TV+ or others players.

I’ve tried adjusting the playback quality settings (set to “Original”) and toggling HDR tone mapping, but nothing fixes it.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Any known workarounds or fixes?

I’m having the exact same issue! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find any workarounds yet for this. Hopefully they push out an update and fix it soon. Btw also running the iOS 26 beta so it’s probably something related to it, but as you said other apps work fine so it’s clearly something with the Plex app.
