iPad Playback Keyboard Controls no longer working

Keyboard: Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio for iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) and iPad Air (4th generation)

On my iPad, the Playback Keyboard Controls not longer working after Plex app updated to version 7.25. Prior to update I could fast forward and rewind using arrows on the keyboard connected to my iPad. The only function that appear to work is space bar to pause or resume. I have tried deleting the app and re-downloading, turning off “Allow Direct Play”, turning on “Use Old Video Player”. There are no other setting I could find to test. The issue is regardless of what Plex server I connect to or it’s version. With all my testing there is no change in the result.

It would be nice to have the controls listed under “General Controls” and “Playback” in the support article below.

If Plex employee or developer need the iPad iOS app logs, please DM or email me. I would prefer not to have to post logs that may contain sensitive or compromising details.

I’m having the exactly same issue since recent betas. I reported it a couple of times during the beta testing, but it didn’t get fixed in the stable release (7.25) came out last week.

Same. The only thing that works is the mouse and play/pause with spacebar

Same issue for me. The only thing that still works is the space bar for play/pause.

I especially miss the functions of the arrow keys, I used them constantly.

Can you please look into it and fix it?

Same for me, space still works for play pause, however skip back and forward no longer work with arrow keys.

It would be wonderful if the core features of video playback could be maintained as we move forward, seems that every step forward includes a few steps backwards recently.

Apple needs to fix this in next update. It’s not Plex

FYI, old versions up to 7.24.1 still work with iPad keyboard controls using arrow keys if you have access to previous beta builds through TestFlight.

Sadly i do not have TestFlight and it shows full so I can not join. It is sad that Plex does not seem to have direct employee or developer to help Plex Pass paying customer even.

I came here just to add a +1 to this thread. Noticed the loss of functions in the arrow keys recently and I hope it gets fixed soon.

Newly bought an ipad pro and having the same issue with. I never expected that only space bar would work with ipad plex client. Hope it gets fixed soon.

It‘s a feature I miss everyday. If it‘s a problem from apple and not the plex app, please let us know, I will try to write them instead to fix it.
If you can fix it, any chance on a time window?

The keyboard shortcuts were so great.

When I first noticed my issue there had been no iPadOS update when it broke. The only update or change was the Plex app had updated. So this leads me to believe this is developer not Apple. I have Amazon Prime video and Disney+ that have no issues using the arrows to skip or rewind.

Yes this has been a serious problem and I believe it has to do with iOS since at one time most apps’ arrow keys stopped working. After several months, YouTube fixed their app by updating YT app but it is still not working in some other video apps like Plex.
