+1 Same here - Webpass in San Francisco
unfortunately, nothing seems to be getting done on this issue... more and more people have this problem every day - it has already been knows for two years - and still there is no fix.
To raise some awareness within the plex team, dont forget to tweet them a link to this forum-entry every now and then... maybe that will speed things up a bit... hopefully...
+1 this needs to be fixed sooner rather than later :(
It looks like the Plex iOS app will soon be required to support IPv6:
"Because IPv6 support is so critical to ensuring your applications work across the world for every customer, we are making it an App Store submission requirement, starting with iOS 9."
(from the Apple WWDC 2015 keynote, http://www.internetsociety.org/deploy360/blog/2015/06/apple-will-require-ipv6-support-for-all-ios-9-apps/)
I really hope the Plex media server will support IPv6 soon, too, because it is pretty awful if you are affected, and the number of people affected is constantly increasing.
+1. KabelBW/Unitymedia in Heidelberg.
So this request started 2 years ago and is still unresolved. Wauw.

Honestly they are running out of time to get this in… if it isn’t already…
IT guys have been telling everyone for years that we will run out of ipv4 addresses … and it is really happening now.
And remember guys don’t just ‘+1’ this … make sure to actually like the OP as only liking the OP will do anything … commenting +1 will just annoy someone or something…
the us is running out of ipv4 adresses, similarly to most of europe. this needed a fix two years ago!
It seems like that the likes have been reset, so everyone who up-voted this thread should like the OP again!
Please make this red marker disappear already!
P.S. And so much to your “green” locks …
Can someone from Plex please chime in and give us something akin to a development timeline, or at least an understanding of where the dev track is, what we can expect, what the challenges are, etc?
Good news for IPv6 users!!!
With the introduction of PMS 0.9.12.5 ( see https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/978927/#Comment_978927 ) the Plex team supports custom URLs. In combination with port mapping services this works just fine. I successfully tested PlexWeb and PHT. The iOS App did not find the server yet, perhaps there needs to be another update for that app.

Was thinking about the same thing. The other day that this might work.
Another thing to test is if a AAAA record (ipv6 addresses in DNS) only domain entry would also work. Even though I still think plex.direct domain could be updated to just work with AAAA record also.

I’ just an power user of plex but no hardcore nerd ;D so maybe can you explain how you did it and with which services and configs?
Thanks
Can someone write the exact steps taken, because I am also missing something.
I setup a IPv6 record with FreeDyn.
Added my Custom URL: http://whatever.com:32400
Port forwarding on the Router

That part I’m not sure if this works. Has your url ipv6 record only or both ipv4/6?
What @BNO2006 did is use a port mapping Service. They give you an ipv4 url:port and proxy it to your ipv6 address:port.
My new ISP is IPV6 only for public addresses in California. This needs to be addressed now before the rest of your customer base starts transitioning not of their free will. This is currently the only remote access item I can’t use on my whole network.
I reached out to plex on twitter the other day and they told me “they are working on it”… but it has been two years already, so I am not very hopeful.
So I’ve read through some of these posts, mainly the last 2 pages and I’m a bit confused as to the state.
I’ve switched over to webpass, an ISP that only provides local ipv4 addresses, but does provide ipv6. I understand that I should be able to reach my network directly with ipv6, but I’ve not yet determined how.
Is there any way to access my plex server via ipv6?
I have setup a AAAA record with a DNS service and can accurately query with dig to get my server’s temporary ipv6 address, so any thoughts here?
