I currently capture a live stream from a security camera and transcode/split it into a HTML Live Streaming (.m3u8) source which I can view with Safari on iOS or OSX. What i would like to do is create a PMS plugin for this stream so I can play it on an apple tv 2. My question is will this .m3u8 stream get transcoded by PMS to the appletv or will the appletv download and play directly from the m3u8 source?

This would be a good question for the atv app subforum. Clients report their capabilities and PMS determines if a file falls within those capabilities it will directly stream it.
