Is Plex suppose to delete folder when the show has been deleted?

Directory structure looks like this:
Recorded TV → Show-name → Season x → empty, file already deleted

File has been deleted in Plex app, but somehow the directory structure has been left behind. Is this normal ? Why doesn’t it clean up itself ?

Regards.

yes it is normal.
plex deletes the file, not the folder the file is in (even if the folder is empty).

What’s the logic behind this leaving the directory structure behind ?
Honestly I’m getting sick of cleaning this up manually.

would you want plex to have blanket permissions to delete folders?
that would be bad idea in my opinion.

Plex has no way of knowing what else could reside in the folder so it will always just leave it alone and only deletes the file from what you have watched and not the folder it’s contained in.

In Plex App I have watched and deleted the file. This action already signal my intention I don’t want this anymore.
This structure has been created by Plex live TV record anyway.

Maybe this is over complicated for my use. I don’t keep that much recordings anyway.
Is there a option to make Plex put recordings in a common folder, without the show-name, season x, structure ? Just like the old school Windows media centre.

the action tells plex you don’t want the particular file any more, nothing more

You could have been adding https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220717-local-media-assets-tv-shows/
and/or https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-tv-show-trailers-and-extras/
which would be lost after you’ve deleted the last episode.

Plex cannot know why you deleted. If you never want to watch the show again, then removing the whole folder structure may appear logical.
However, if you just deleted it temporarily, or to make room for recording the next episode, then you’d be cursing at plex for taking the “nuclear option”.
