Plex DVR doesn't clean up after itself

I recorded some test shows and then deleted them all (from inside the app). Now the show/season folders are still there. They are empty but they are still there. If they are empty they should be deleted.

There are a few others that have listed this issue as well. Currently as far as I have read there is not fix yet or at least a better way. Hopefully the developers are looking at this.

Maybe read through the forums or search for it to see if you can find it.

Linux: find TV\ Shows/ -type d -empty -delete

yep… except Plex should to this

  • it should put ALL shows in their own directory (right now, series in same season go into same folder)
  • When you delete a show, it should clear everything including the folder out
  • If you delete the last show in a season, it should take out the ‘mother’ folder for that show

Either that, or do what WMC does, which is dump everything into the same folder, and then just delete the show. No pesky subfolders to worry about.

Not officially. Most users have been putting [Bug] or [Feature Request] in the title lines. There was another thread on this subject and someone asked if Plex could put it Bug tracker up and of course it got out of hand. I suggested at least a read only version so people would know what was being worked on and or at least acknowledged issues. Here is the thread link:

This is a sorely needed feature to make Plex a more polished alternative.

Having to do cleanup manually is a PITA and unnecessary, but if you don’t, over time you have a real mess.

Automatic deletion of empty folders is high on my list of feature requests.

I was just about to make a (snide) comment about Plex leaving the Show’s folder - it did, however, delete the episode and season folder.

BTW:
I’m finding it difficult to pursue a career of recording much of anything using my FireTV - with only 12 hours of guide data. I am using my Roku, ATM. (I withheld as much of the snidery as I could…lol)

If “Unknown” doesn’t bother anyone at Plex - it should. The MOST BASIC requirement of encoding/recording is setting the language. MCEBuddy/ANY OTHER DVR has been doing it for AT LEAST a decade. If Plex can’t ‘detect’ a language you need to let me force it, 'cause I can tell ya right now there ain’t nothing else but ‘English’ on the air here in WV - and ‘Unknown’ may cause me to LOSE IT!

I just noticed…:

If I have the Seasons Hidden - the entire folder structure is removed. Not hidden, Plex leaves the Show folder.

That might help narrow it down…
