Is there a way to hide tv shows you don't watch on a shared server?

What’s preventing them is that the last year or two of feature updates have been putting more of the personalization under the direct control of the admin and taking it away from the end user. They would have to back track on some of that coding to allow more user level options again.

+1 would love an ignore/hide option for any media instead of marking as watched.

Marking something as watched gives a potentially incorrect “watched” count. If everyone marks something as watched, then how would I know if it is actually being watched without getting into the analytics a bit more?

There are other use cases of course, and having media ignored or hidden can help to determine what media to keep, and what media to potentially remove.

I also would be interested in such a feature. My mom never knows how she can “hide” an movie or show she knows she will never be interested in watching. She then uses the “mark as watched” option but
1 - then she sees all those items again when she untick the "unwatched"filter when she want to re-watch an old movie
2 - The whole family is receiving notifications that she’s watches dozen of shows at once in our weekly-new-social thingy…

@Plex team, is that really difficult to add a propoerties “hidden” ?

As the host, I’d be interested in this feature. I also know clients that would love this feature.

A client may want to hide items for a multitude of reasons - perhaps they know they will never be interested in viewing a title, ie hide Star Wars ep 1, 2, 3, from view. Or, perhaps they just want to manually hide SpongeBob movies. Perhaps omitting the Kelvin Timeline from Star Trek suit their fancy when browsing the library.

This allows for additional interaction when viewing different library sources. From a data-aggregation perspective, it allows analyzing of what users choose to not want to see.

We have great filters to scope how libraries are displayed. Allowing a hide flag is a convenient way to organize libraries in a way that can keep engagement high, and integrates well with existing filters. It seems natural to have this option - in Gmail you can archive, in Launchbox you might have 100 SNES titles, but only want to display 50 at any given time, but unhide selections at anytime. Having this level of control in the GUI becomes an enjoyable unique experience for the end user.

As the person who’s sharing a library, you can already limit/restrict which items of a library are being shared with a friend.

This suggestion is specifically about an option for those friends to hide additional items.

I’ve tried to do this but it doesn’t work very well. I have a HDHR Prime and use it to record live TV. The managed users can set up their own recordings which is fine, but when it comes to deleting their recorded TV only the admin can do that. It’d be nice to have the managed users be able to manage their own content when it comes to recording live TV.

Fairly simple request. By adding a "Not Interested" tag to Library and TV Show entries, this will allow home/shared users to keep things off of their On Deck and Recently Added lists that they have no interest in.

Great Idea!

This is available as a global setting: Go into Edit Library, Advanced and untick Include in dashboard. It would be great for it to be per user however.

I want this too. I am specific in movies I want to watch and am marking watched movies, so the rest of the suggestions/list on the media servers will actually be movies I am not even interested in.

This needs to be at user level not admin level! And it’s quite basic

You can set up a custom filter “dynamic library” to exclude shows you dont want to see

10 years later, still not implemented. Pretty basic feature IMO.

I’m the server admin, and share with over 20 people. We all have different likes when it comes to content.

If i can click on media and say “Add to playlist” why not just have a feature “Add to ignore list”? It is then on the user to decide what they want to see and helps them customize THEIR plex experience, not leaving it up to the admin to manage such a tedious task.
