Is there a way to turn gapless playback off?

Hello all,

I’m a happy new Plex Pass owner and I found amazing the Plexamp app.

For the moment I think I found the perfect music player app for my needs.

I know that normally people demand for gapless playback, but honestly I like the little break between songs.

So my question is: is there any way to turn gapless playback off on the Plexamp app?

I’ve searched in the setting and it seems that I can’t find anything related. The only setting I found was Sweet Fades, but it seems that even when turned off, I still have gapless playback…

Thanks in advance for your help,

Best regards,
Marc

If you press Play on the Album, instead of on the first track of the album, you should get the same pauses as they are originally when you play the CD.

Thanks for the quick reply.

But what about the generated stations or related artists radio?

That’s unfortunately not possible, then.

Sorry to another question, but I imagine that for the random album is the same, since it generates a list of individual tracks, is it?

I think it’s a shame not to have the option as a simple toggle, it’s the first time I see this feature “imposed”.

Other then it’s a little confusing to explain to new users the logic behind it:

  • click first track equals gapless
  • click play album, no gapless

Is there any way to ask for features? I mean, a dedicated forum or form?

I don’t think so. It is called “Album” radio, after all.
Anything else would be a bug.

It is very logical. Pressing play on the album plays the album. So you get the original album experience, Gaps and all.

Pressing play on a track plays a track (and usually all the other tracks from that album are queued up as well). You can add other tracks to this or re-order the tracks which then removes the tracks from its album context.

Well, for the time being I think I will have to live with it.

But I really want to make the feature request of putting a toggle in the settings in order to generally enable /disable gapless playback.

Thanks again for the answer, and if you can pass the request, maybe it’s not so hard to implement it…

Best regards,
Marc

I think you’re disliking the Sweet Fades, nothing to do with gapless, which is something else). Disable Sweet Fades in settings and you’ll get more silence between tracks in general.

Thanks for your reply
Actually I don’t like gapless playback in general, that’s why I asked. But I will try to turn it off and see what happens.

And really thank you for these apps, I’m really loving all plex experience

Does this mean that there are two different types of playback and the only way to get the full album as gapless (if it is) is to press play on the album vs track button? Queuing the tracks as an album isn’t recognized if you are on an album view?

If you are looking at the album track list, you have a big play button at the top. Use this.
Don’t tap on one of the album’s tracks individually.

so that’s a yes then to two types of playback.

No, both methods should play as the CD intended.

So just for clarification, if I press play on the second (not first) track, it still plays as an album/CD without gaps?
