When Playback a 4K file using my NVidia Shield TV, there is bug on the web display where it shows the file as playing back twice
You probably have the same movie in another library as a non-4K version.
i.e. not a bug as such. There are 2 files which are both identified as âBorne Identityâ. You can resume either one.
Yes itâs an intermittent bug for the Continue Watching hub. Iâve seen it happen for a while and then not happen.
Yep, this is the correct answer. Though IMO it should indeed be considered a bug. By default, âContinue Watchingâ should only show me the version I was previously watching. Instead, I end up with âContinue watchingâ showing (for example) my edited copy of an episode, plus the version with commercials from the DVR that I hadnât deleted, which means the time stamps arenât even synced properly. Iâve clicked the wrong one multiple times.
And donât get me started on what happens with all my different versions if I stop in the middle of a movie like Star Wars.
I disagree.
Letâs say you started watching the 4K version at home. But then had to leave the house and now have only your mobile phone to finish the movie. It is a good thing that you can resume the other version â otherwise your server would start transcoding the 4K version âŠ
That sounds right, I do have a 1080P version for remote viewing in a separate library. Thanks
I agree, now I understand what itâs doing, it makes sense.
IMO that doesnât make the original behavior less of a bug, at best it makes it a kinda kludgy workaround applied to everyone, but only needed for some very specific scenarios.
Heck, Plex knows when youâre playing something on mobile. It could easily just pop up a window asking âwhich version?â when you click play. and default to the non-4K. It doesnât need to make the entire user base see multiple versions of a video in Continue Watching.
