Issue: QNAP is currently not available

Server Version#:
Player Version#: 7.6.1 (21714)

Dear all,

Could not find a similar, recent post on the forum, so here goes:
I’m running the Plex app (v. 7.6.1 (21714) on an Apple TV 4K (TVOS 14.0 (18J386) to access media stored on a QNAP TVS-672N, with software version 4.4.3.1439(2020/09/25).

When trying to open the QNAP from the Apple TV app, this message appears: “QNAP is currently unavailable. Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection. IF you need additional help please visit https://support.flex.tv for assistance”.

I can use my windows laptop and iphone to access and open media on the QNAP, even through the PLEX apps on iOS and the Plex media server app installed on the QNAP. Curious…

Anyone has any ideas on what the issue might be, and how to solve this?

Many thanks in advance,

PB

My apple tv does it too from time to time. No idea why.

  • Open the app
  • Go to the upper right corner (the vertical ellipsis) and click it
  • Reset your home screen
  • Select the server and desired libraries again

In my case, it probably is happening because I’m installing and changing so often.

Thanks for the reply!
I did that, but no result unfortunately. Still get the message that QNAP is unavailable.

Anyone else?

May I see the Logs ZIP please?

(use the PlexData share or ssh to create a ZIP of the Logs directory)

Thanks @ChuckPa, I think I’ve downloaded the logs (attached). Could you please let me know if this is what you’re looking for?

Many thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this,

Paul

Paul,
when you reset the AppleTV home screen, it looks to Plex.tv for the list of hosts which are available.

If you saw your server listed there (presume you did else you’d not be able to select it), then it does exist.

I’ve looked in your logs and found no references to where the AppleTV app attempts to contact it. (I would see the client request )

This does not look right and may be the appleTV app.

I would like you to uninstall the AppleTV app , restart the ATV, then reinstall and link the app.
