I'm setting things in my new house up with Rasplex on 3 Pi(s) and a server using Ubuntu. All is working well and I am loving the access from Android and other devices. I am only having one real issue, that is the codecs I bought don't seem to be working. I purchased them all at one time and got an email that looks like....
"Thank you for purchasing codec license keys from the Raspberry Pi Store. To enable codecs on your device(s), add the following lines to the config.txt file in the FAT partition of your SD card:
When I add the values (all 3) to one of the Pi(s) or If I try each value individually added to the config.txt in the FAT partition (reboot, blah blah blah), I get the following error.
After testing using a fresh install of Raspian, it is clear the issue is with Rasplex. Has anyone successfully installed the MPG2 and VC1 codecs from Raspberry.org on Rasplex? Version 0.1.35
Bought a license for each Pi. Installed the codes I received on a Raspian build and everything worked fine, I got the proper enabled response from the vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2 command. But when I use Rasplex, I get the VCHI initialization failed error.
I was having the same issue on 0.1.35. I plugged my SD card into my Macbook Pro and added my license code to the config.txt. On first boot, after putting SD card back into Rasberry Pi, I ssh'ed into RasPlex and ran the vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2 command to verify that the codec was enabled. I too got the VHCI initialization failed error. I then upgraded to 0.1.37, but again got the VHCI initialization failed error. I rebooted one more time, and then just tried playing an MPEG2 video. Lo and Behold, It worked like a champ. Not sure if this helps or not, but I thought I would share my experience. Good luck!
Having the same issue on 0.1.36. Is there a way to fix this as my video playback keeps buffering and i dont know if the codecs are active or not
