Issues with streaming subtitle MOV_TEXT

Hi all,

I have Issues streaming a mp4 file with subtitle enabled. Subtitle format is MOV_TEXT. I can direct play the file…container and audio ok but in fire tv and android mobile if i enable then the subtitle it canot stream anymore… i did look at the server and it was trying to send 180 Mbps data to the client??? i received also the message that my connection to the server was too slow…but it is local and i saw it also in plex it handles as local.

But why so much data? Different behaviour in plex web player…i can direct play…container and audio is ok and i can enable the subtitle. Data troughpout is still normal but it doesent show the enabled subtitle…

I did read that 2 Years ago peoples had issues with this type of subtitles…is that still a problem?
I mean on the fire tv i saw after some time of loading that it worked if the stream is not transcoded…but 180 Mbps would never work in my home…normally the movie need max 15 Mbps to stream in original.

Have you tried disabling/enabling the New FireTV Player?
(Plex App Settings/Advanced)

Other options:
“More” Plex Pass Subs? <—no, of course not, you need them.
https://subscene.com/ <—get some srt subs - if you can.
https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit <—convert those subs to UTF-8.
