Some subtitles won't play on TV

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2527
Player Version#: 4.22.2

As the title says, some subtitles won’t play on the TV.
Some background:
I first installed the server on windows 7. I configured subtitles settings and things seem to have worked fine then, although I do recall some episodes not having subtitles either.
I since upgraded the OS to windows 10.
Now any new movie I add doesn’t display subtitles on the TV. But many older ones (added with windows 7) still work fine.
The problem seems to be a bit inconsistent, so I can’t really pinpoint what’s causing it, but those that don’t stream the subtitles show subtitles if I watch the movie via web player.

Recently I added a new movie with an srt file. The subtitles aren’t streamed to the TV. If I check the file on the server app, under subtitles I have “None”, “Unknown (SRT External)”, “English (SRT External”, “English (SRT External)”.
I have tried selecting different ones but none works.
On movies without srt files (Plex gets the subtitles automatically) the same thing happens.

I have set player to always burn subtitles.
The subtitles themselves are there. The server app shows them. The web player shows them. It’s just the TV stream that has no subtitles.

Any help, please?

EDIT: Fixed versions.
Also noticed that subtitles that seem to be working on the TV say “English (SRT)” and the ones that don’t work say “English (SRT External)”, though I don’t know what causes one or the other to be happen.

Some more testing seems to indicate that mkv files with subtitles options will get recognized by the TV (including the option to turn off subtitles) but movies with srt files, both physical files or ones auto downloaded by plex, don’t show on the TV.
The TV is a Philips 50pus6203/12, in case that’s relevant.

So the issue seems to be with streaming srt files. I can’t find a way to get it to work.

So, no answer in almost a week. What kind of support is this?

I mean, subtitles are a deal breaker for me. If I can’t get it to work I will have to try other software that does the job.
