Hello I’ve just updated both my server and Apple TV app, but now all playback of previously recorded content is a bit jerky, where before it wasn’t.
It affects both HD and SD cotent. The sound is fine but the picture is horrid to watch for any time.
Help? Any ideas? Thank you.
Chris
Ok update, if I turn off the enhanced player, the jerkiness goes away. It just takes ages to play I guess it’s transcoding something.
This is what I see on the technical details bit.
Further update: The same recorded content plays flawlessly without transcoding on my RasPlex. So it must be the latest Apple TV Plex App that’s at fault…
Any thoughts guy?
I have been getting jerky playback as well, and my media is direct playing. No clue why.
Same issue here. I’m on 2.17 (15246) of the AppleTV client on a 4th-gen AppleTV, and if I set Use Old Video Player (apparently the Enhanced player is now standard, so this is the new way of describing the non-enhanced player) to True, playback is smooth (and gets transcoded by my server), but if I set it to Off, playback is jerky. (and is Direct Play). Happy to send a sample video file that demonstrates this behavior if that will help.
I was seeing the same issue on 2.16 (with Enhanced Player on vs off). Prior to that, I’d been running happily on the Enhanced player for quite some time, so this appears to be a new-ish bug or regression.
…but fixed with latest update.
