Just a simple playlist URL that plays my music

Hello all,
Simple question but I red a lot of threads & the answer looks very difficult no ? :-/

I am just looking for a simple URL that directly permits to play a music playlist (with random option) :
-> to put into a browser
-> and better to put into VLC Media Player

The web URL (when accessing to PMS) looks like :
https://server.com:33400/web/index.html#!/server/longpath/playlist?key=%2Fplaylists%2F45334&context=library%3Acontent.playlists.music

(into a browser it doesn’t play automaticly ; doesn’t work into VLC Media Player)

Thanks for your help !

Thanks @trumpy81 for your answer, I appreciate :slight_smile:
In fact I do use Plex Apps (on my iPhone for music&films, into Kodi for films …)

But I’ve got a script on my Raspberry Pi (which is connected to speakers) that launch automatically my music when I press some buttons from my InfraRed remote control.

For now it directly launch VLC Media Player which play my all music folder (the raspberry can access to the filesystem) ; but like this I do not benefit of my Plex playlists.

I would like to be able to launch a simple shell command that plays a choosen playlist randomly … (using VLC Media Player would be the best ; event browser ; or any other Plex App usable on Raspberry Pi if I really need to use an app…)

I was expecting a simple api access or smg that would allow me to get a simple url like … “https://myserver.com/stream/myplaylist_name?option=random

(Nothing to see but I do love your avatar … I’m driving a Street Triple R from 2010 :wink: )

Nice :star_struck:

I am already using VLC to access my music but I need the playlists :wink:

I use raspbian
i tried to run the appimage but unfortunatly it does not run

There is no way to get a simple URL that could be used in a standard player ? :cry:

To augment here.

The days of the “Twonky” players are long gone unfortunately.

DLNA is the best you’ll get and that’s not easy to implement

I tryed and it looks like I do not have access to music playlists using DLNA :frowning:

i found a way to access files (videos & music) that works :

https://yourserver:32400/library/parts/26973/1333889385/file.mp3?download=1&X-Plex-Token=XXXXX

The 2 red parts can be found in the xml :

the X-Plex-Token is into the accessing XML URL

But I can not get that information for playlists … helppp :sob:

No one ? :sob:

It’s at the end of the URL of the webpage when you look at the XML.

I can not get that information for playlists … :-/

I had only wanted to access the individual MP3s in my library. I’d guess playlists might be there somewhere?

Well I could found an URL related to my playlist ***-***** Tout validé !! :slight_smile:
it looks like this :
https://server.com:33400/playlists/44346/items?download=1&X-Plex-Token=XXXXX

(the red part is found in the URL when accessing to the playlist using standard Web Plex interface)

That URL gives me an XML with this structure :

<MediaContainer size="3269" composite="/playlists/44346/composite/1601102933" duration="777562" leafCount="3269" playlistType="audio" ratingKey="44346" smart="1" title="***-***** Tout validé">
<Track ratingKey="41647" key="/library/metadata/41647" parentRatingKey="41646" grandparentRatingKey="41645" guid="local://41647" parentGuid="com.plexapp.agents.lastfm://The%201975/Unreleased%201975%20Songs?lang=fr" grandparentGuid="com.plexapp.agents.lastfm://The%201975?lang=fr" type="track" title="Chocolate" grandparentKey="/library/metadata/41645" parentKey="/library/metadata/41646" librarySectionTitle="Musique" librarySectionID="19" librarySectionKey="/library/sections/19" grandparentTitle="The 1975" parentTitle="Unreleased 1975 Songs" originalTitle="The 1975" summary="" index="75" parentIndex="1" ratingCount="3782538" userRating="6.0" viewCount="9" lastViewedAt="1590055297" thumb="/library/metadata/41646/thumb/1589723105" parentThumb="/library/metadata/41646/thumb/1589723105" grandparentThumb="/library/metadata/41645/thumb/1600740982" duration="207653" addedAt="1446051692" updatedAt="1600742842">
</Track>
All other tracks of my playlist are listed like this
</MediaContainer>

But when trying to inject this URL into VLC Media Player. It does not play the playlist.

The XML strcuture doesn’t seems to be appreciated by VLC Media Player

Should I play on this part of the URL in order to use specific parameters to get a format that could be played by VLC ?
https://server.com:33400/playlists/44346/items?download=1&X-Plex-Token=XXXXX

:pray: :pray: :pray: :pray:

Anyone ? An idea plzzzzz ? :pray: :sob: :kissing_smiling_eyes:
