Ran the usual OS updates on Ununtu 20.04.2 LTS box yesterday, and when I went to log into Plex only one user showed up. Tried all the clients and they showed the same - but not the same user.
Restarted - no change.
Having upgraded OS versions and fixing other problems several times in the past I figured OK, uninstall and reinstall.
Removing the Snap hung.
sudo snap remove plexmediaserver
Found the process number.
sudo snap changes
Killed the snap removal process.
sudo snap abort ##
Tried removal a couple more times rebooting between attempts but the process hung every time.
Finally removed it by bypassing the snap backup.
snap remove --purge plexmediaserver
Reinstalled and back up and running in an hour or so. Don’t know what the original problem was exactly but if someone else runs into the same problem I hope to save them some time.
