I have a few remote users who pause the movie for days at a time. They watch the movie and instead of closing their client at the end, they just put Plex in the background to use something else which puts Plex in pause mode. The show shows up in my “Now Playing” list as paused.
The only way to get them off the server is to close the server client and then reopen it.
I’m checking data logs and I’m in constant contact with this user while the movie/show is on pause which eats up bandwidth.
We need a way to set an option so if the show is on pause for X amount of time, it automatically cuts server connection to that person. 10 min, 20 min, 30 min, 1 hour. Good choices for options.
In the meantime, you could “accidentally” remove that user from your friends list. Perhaps losing access to free movies for a while will persuade him to not do that.

I’m guessing he doesn’t know he’s doing it. He thinks he’s leaving Plex but it’s just going to the background. This user that does it the most is using his ipad to watch movies so I can see where he’s coming from.
