Or not… My boss has PMP installed on his work PC, still ends up using Plex web. Not for any reason other than that’s what he does.

Let’s see, in the past 15 odd minutes or so I have clarified facts, answered questions, and pointed out the obvious. If that’s defending Plex, then so be it. You are certainly entitled to your point of view.

Well thats how it feels and looks. All the good features have been removed when compared to plex media player. I don’t pay attention to codecs and video types and I don’t play video via the browser. I use it for administration only.

Plex keeps taking about user numbers. The people who want to view via a htpc in their living room has to far outnumber the people who want to view offline content on a pc. if I’m viewing offline content it would be on a phone or tablet, and I do that almost never.

I built a plex server that I can access from anywhere on the planet so that I wouldn’t need to, but apparently playing contenting in my living room directly is something plex doesn’t want to support… stupid.

That’s not the point Plex is making with those numbers.

Compared to the millions of users (streaming, mobile, and desktop), HTPC is a very small minority.

Yes, it’s a good business decision to piss off the small minority of hardcore plex fans who has been praising plex to friends and family for years. I wonder where the “millions of users” came from.

But you also have to keep in mind that we have millions of users, and are looking at aggregate playback stats. So yes, there are at least 444 people who dislike the idea of HTPC mode going away, but you have to view this in the context of the actual use being a tiny fraction of overall playbacks (and decreasing).

That is something I kind of thought but found hard to understand. Plex do have a habit or alienating users and you guys or gals in your case face the brunt of it. You should at least get danger money.

Only if we want to. Plenty of mods have more constraint (and more common sense?) than me and avoid threads like this all together
