Known issue with plex companion with Xbox One? (casting from device directly to Xbox One?)

Hi Everyone,
Was hoping to get more detail around the problem going on with attempting to cast to the Xbox one from a handheld device like a phone or tablet.

I have the latest server version (0.9.15.0). On my android devices (galaxy and tab), I can open up the plex app and then can see where the Xbox OS is available to connect to. Once I connect to it and select a video on the handheld device, it will not load on the Xbox One. It will just eventually say “Unable to connect” and then ask if I’d like to continue playing on the handheld device.

I couldn’t find anything on the known issues thread regarding this so I was hoping to get more information. I’d love to be able to use the tablet or phone as a remote because the search is not available on the Xbox One. Also, even if the search gets implemented for Xbox One, I find that using the plex companion to cast is much more intuitive than using the Xbox controller.

Hi there, sorry you’re experiencing issues with the Companion feature. We are aware of some potential causes and are working to fix them in a server release hopefully.

I have a somewhat similar issue where I’m not seeing my Xbox1 to cast to at all? It sees my 360 fine…
