Kunbuntu multiple Plex Media

I am currently using Kunbuntu for my plex server. I have issues when i reboot sometimes i get a different media server database. I have labeled them different names Ex: Plex 1 & Plex 2. Same file locations and media. Can someone help with removing the dual instances.

Have you moved the Plex Media Server data directory or have you replaced it with a symbolic link pointing e.g. to a different drive?
If Plex cannot access that location during startup it might assume there’s no existing server and create a new one.

I didnt move the data, where in that location does it show 2 server?

Just to avoid we’re talking about different things…
I’m referring to the “Plex Media Server data folder” – that’s where Plex stores its database, the metadata, downloaded posters… It’s the folder described in the linked support article. I’m not referring to the folders where your media is located.

On a Windows or macOS install you might end up with different server instances for different users as %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server (Windows) and ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/ (macOS) are user specific paths. Not so on Linux.

To add to Tom’s post,

/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Suport/Plex Media Server is where the metadata is stored on Linux unless moved by a service override.

The server is installed in this location, my issue is:
When i reboot my server, sometimes it boots to a different version of what plex i am using.
For example
Server A Server B
Server A will run, no issues. When i Reboot, Server B will pop up. In my UI in plex, it will show me SERVER A is unavailble, now sees Server B. No other media files installed.
I reboot again, and SERVER A will be up and SErver B will be unavailable. ITs random…

Are the servers clones of each other (using the same Preferences.xml file) ?

no. not that i know of

I found 2 instances installed on my kunbuntu server.
1 plex media file installed in
User/documents/lib/plex media server
And the other
In root/

How do I tell which is starting up during boot?

how did that happen? There should be only 1 unless you are using Ubuntu SNAP (Ubuntu store) packages.
