Hi,
I mistakenly posted this in the Web App forum, but thought it best to post here ( I will try and delete the other post)
I am running Plex media Server: 1.7.5.4035 (windows)
I don’t want to see the TV show’s my wife watches appearing when I signed into my Plex account.
I have thought about creating a separate folder, moving all her TV show’s into the folder and point a new library at that folder.
One issue i see with this, if there are shows that we watch together, this could become problematic.
The other option I have just reading up on is using Labels. From the Web App, I could create a label and mark all her TV shows with a label and the restrict her account with the label.
The issue: During my initial testing with the labels, i want to then filter my account to filter on: ** does not contain the Label Wife’s TV**
However within Custom filter, there isn’t an option for Filter on Label?
Can anyone advise on this issue?
or
what do you do when you want to exclude some content from some users?
Thanks
P

You don’t need to use the Custom Filter if you do it this way:
- Label your shows with your name.
- Label her shows with her name.
- Label shows you watch together with “Both” or something similar (a show could have two labels, like your name and “Both”).
Now choose the standard Label filter with your name, or her name (which will include shows that have two labels, if you do that in step 3), or “Both.”
If you’re concerned about having to go through and label all your shows one at a time, you should know that you can label multiple items at once.
Thank you both for the suggestions, both answers would work. I think i will opt for the Labels though, purely because I can restrict the wife’s account to the “Label”. I couldn’t see a way of doing it will collections.
This method also has the benefit that it will be the default view when she uses one of the player(s) as opposed to setting a filter.
EDIT: My account is also the Administrator account. I have not tested it yet, but can the IOS and Xbox Plex App Filter?
EDIT 2: Can’t filter on more than one label either, unless I am doing something wrong
if so would I need to set the filter on every player I sign in on, or is it a one time, that will apply to my account, regardless of the player I sign in on?
Thanks again.

It seems there are a few people requesting discussions based on the other threads I’ve seen (referenced below).
Specific to this thread, I really liked the idea of using Collections until I realized that under Settings ->> Users
I am unable to filter User content by Collection, only Label.
For my kids of varying ages I’d like to create a User profile and then only show them the content which is labeled for them (i.e. my son can see “Hunting Hitler” but not “Game of Thrones” under TV. Labels or Collections seem the most natural way to organize (versus using file system folders and Libraries).
I’m mostly able to do what I like but is a challenge to manage since I cannot identify what content is NOT labeled or otherwise do Label filtering.

Agreed Jon,
I’m a bit miffed knowing how few lines of code this is to add to the already implemented custom filters features. They have it set up so that it’s impossible to manage what you are sharing with your small children. It forces me to “re-share” everything in my kids’ label since I can’t just browse what’s NOT in their library and add only the appropriate ones.
Come on PLEX! who really listens to podcasts anymore. Throw your PAID customers a bone and add NOT labels to the custom filters!
