LAG! Every Plex TV App Update gets laggier and laggier

I have a 2018 Samsung UE65NU8000 TV and a couple years ago the Plex App worked great, but with each new version and update it becomes more and more unusable. The menu animations are so laggy and it’s just a pain to try scroll through my library. Some shows even cut off before they finish and I get a “Playback error” and have to turn the tv off and on again to fix it. The app on a 3 year old TV shouldn’t be running this slow and painfully. Netflix works smoothly, Youtube works smoothly. Plex really needs to do more work to make this app actually useable.

Still finding the app to be a lag nightmare. Every update has made it worse and worse and almost unusable.

Will Plex please focus on improvements to the speed of the app

Have you considered to “Disable animations” in the preferences of the app?

Yeah I’ve gone into the settings and disabled animations and turned the UI down to the simplist one I can, and its still very very laggy. If I click the remote button (any button) it takes at least 3 seconds for Plex to respond. For comparison, Youtube, Netflix, and Disney+ are all very very responsive, so its not an issue with my TV or remote. The Plex app needs a lot of work to make it responsive.

It’s the same for my LG bought in 2019. My suspicion is the Plex developers don’t really test their code on “older” hardware at all.

It’s so frustrating. it’s not even an old tv, and yet the way Plex works on it, it feels like its a 10+ year old device. I really need them to fix this because its making it unusable and I’m not paying £1500+ for a new tv just so Plex works better.

Same on my Samsung TV the UI lags so much it’s unbearable !
I’ve disabled the animation but didn’t see much improvement

Fix it ASAP please !
