Lagging on samsung tv

Does anyone else have this problem?
There is always problems with streaming to my living room tv. To my phone or to my ~10 years old laptop works like it should. Both wireless, but the tv is connected via cable to the router. Its very annoying that we cant watch movies in the living room… Everything is updated etc.

Depending on what kind of media you’re trying to watch… most smart TVs only support a 100 Mbps wired network connection. This can cause trouble if you’re watching high bitrate/quality 4K media as that can easily peak above 100 Mbps.

Try a few different WiFi channels as you may have some congestion, interference or both. These settings are found in your WiFi Router. I am assuming your using the 5GHz band and highest Band width for the best possible connection.

From what I can see, the “heaviest” movie I have is about 75mbps bitrate. But I don’t know, maybe it varies during the course of the movie?
But it doesn’t really matter, I get the same results with hd (1080p) movies as well. I have to manually change video quality to very low, and then it maybe works… SD material works fine but its not particularly satisfying on a75" tv :joy:

The tv is connected via ethernet cable

Ok…

Bit Rate can be measured two ways, average and peak bit rate. Peak can happen in fast action scenes or rain in high resolution content for examples.

A 75Mbps average file will easily max out beyond 100 Mbps.

Well… What can I do?

You could try to connect your TV using a wireless connection.

I’ve done that, no change.

Check the Server’s Activity monitor when playing, to check there is no Transcoding. If it is transcoding it is indicating a under powered Server.

Hope that helps…
